Race Truck Insurance
Discussion
One for the race truck owners! I am in the process of buying a used 7500kgs race truck for the Griff and would appreciate any recommendations to insure it. I rang the BRSCC who put me onto Richard Egger for a quote - seemed a little expensive at £250 for 3rdP F&T with 4000 miles limit, when I shall probably only use it for 7 weekends over 7 months.

I use competition car insurance (they specialise in Racing and support vehicle insurance); they also insure the cars in transit and storage, not on the track though
Race car Transit and Storage cost is aprox £300 and insured for 14k
7.5 ton Truck insurance is about £500 fully comp. I think with 5000 miles. last year was about £350 TPF&F
somone else here recomend them to me.

I have a similar truck. The insurance on the truck is about £240 and I have the car and contents of the truck insured separately. I use Competition Car Insurance which is Richard Egger's previous firm and I have found them slightly cheaper. Richard Egger is a direct agent for Chaucer Insurance only I believe.
Just got my race-truck/coach conversion insured with Richard Egger Rally Insurance and I couldn't recommend them enough... I spoke to a lovely girl named Sam who knew exactly what sort of vehicle she was dealing with unlike so many other "specialised" companies that didn't want to have anything to do with vehicles that aren't factory built.
£380.41 for third party, fire and theft with 4000 miles per year seemed very reasonable to me. The next best quote I had was from Competition Car Insurance at around £550, they were also quite difficult to get hold of via email.
