Why? Because Max has came out with some statement about FOTA's comments? Max has lost all credibility.

I dont agree with that, they played it well. A breakaway would cause a hell of a lot of upset and they basically beat Max into backing down (no small accomplishment) avoiding the need to breakaway. That is not spineless, if anything it is a greater acheivment.

What is difficult to tell at the moment, is Max just shouting for attention or will anything come from this outburst. I don't know how to vote, it depends how serious Max is or if he's just trying to create turmoil/news.

Except that all FOTAs comments re ticket pricing and transparency have gone the way of the dodo because Bernie wafted some cash. If Max does now stay all FOTA will have done is got themselves some more cash and removed the budget cap. Both of which could have been done by breaking away - they've taken the easy option IMO, don't rock the boat and keep taking the cash. No integrity in it all.

But how much would the sport have suffered if a breakaway had gone ahead? We can't be certain what would have happened but the potential for upset was/is huge.

I would love Max and Bernie to have a big stty stick poked in their eyes, and a breakaway series would be that stty stick. However the consequences could outweigh the pleasure of seeing said stty stick eye pokery.

sure, a couple of teams might not be in F1 next year, but the majority will be, and there certainly wont be another race series, or at least one that can hope to attract the worldwide TV slots and audiences that F1 attracts.

I totally disagree with the fact the FOTA championship would lose fans, as long as they can keep it on terestrial TV in the UK they'd keep ALL the fans, and F1 would end up with nothing. Personally i'd follow FOTA, i've been watching F1 for 20 years but i'd happily jump ship if FOTA set up a new series.

What will happen? no idea, i get a feeling FOTA will back down. what should happen? FOTA should breakaway, enough is enough, tell Bernie and Max you'll see them in court and just do it!

nah, they just think its a threat they can use to get what they want... i doubt any of them actually want the hassle of trying to set up a brand new series, define rules, book tracks, organise TV and sponsorship rights etc...
