Renault f1 factory visit

I was lucky enough to be invited on a factory tour of the Renault f1 team last night http://www.lawrencecliftphotography.co.uk/30360/in... . It was a privilege to be able to take a look inside a current formula 1 team and to see the cars being built for the forthcoming German GP. As for the proposed budget cuts that Max Moseley was trying to bring in, Renault currently employ 550 staff, a nose cone/front wing assembly costs approx £40k in man hours alone, and they take 6 to a race weekend, I could go on........

Thanks for the comment. As for the computer centre I have no idea as we were only in the factory and weren't able to go into the wind tunnel or other areas.

Great 'photos, surprised you were allowed photographic equipment inside the factory. At Lotus they take em off you (and mobiles with cameras) at the security gate...

Anything of real importance will have been put well out of sight.

Lotus is a different story though as they do a lot of work for big companies that would rather you thought it was all done in house and there are just too many things lying around to tidy up all the time

The only item that we weren't able to photograph was the current engine, apart from that it was a free reign. M-Sport (Ford WRC) don't allow photos plus they charge.

....not if it wasn't an official tour...then you might get to look at the wind tunnel models which reveal all kinds of things....

The CFD department is underground now - a bit bigger than the corner of the aero dept it used to live in.

But they're restricted access - even the majority of own staff are not allowed (read cannot) get in.
