What a breath of fresh air he would bring.
I'm sure that everyone in motor sport would be keen to see a ex-world champion at the helm, and I bet he'd be keen to sort out the mess that The Spank has done with the WRC in recent years!
So that's The Spank sorted now, and how about The Midget - as after his praise for Hitler over the weekend, surely he can no longer be in charge of the commercial arm of F1 now.
Both those two have really shown their true colours in recent years...

The trick was, the limit was only prospective, so that Mosley's two-term maximum would be measured starting from when the new rule was made.
Mind you, that was done only to simplify the record-keeping.

People he's elevated to their current positions of importance? Heads of national motoring authorities who currently have more clout in the FiA than they have ever had before, or their nation's motor industry presence warrants?

I'm not suggesting that these things are being dangled to influence FiA delegates' judgement (never crossed my mind) but rather that it's natural that people in situations such as those above might be predisposed to support a President who has actively furthered the car industry and motorsport in their particular nation. It's just human nature to be nice to people who've looked out for you.

When Ari's name has been mentioned before on these forums as a potential candidate for the position of President, I'd really dismissed the thought as fanciful. However, the more one thinks about it, the more sensible a suggestion it appears.
1. He's clearly a political animal, being a current Euro MP.
2. His motor sport credentials are second to none.
3. No obvious historical ties to any current F1 manufacturer.
4. If anyone has read his autobiography, you will not find another man alive so in touch with his own mortality following his near fatal rallying accident. His mantra is 'Live the moment, and don't forget to stop and smell the roses'
5. And also, having lunched with him some years ago, he's just about the nicest bloke in motor sport.
There is no doubt in my mind that that lot will no doubt render him totally unqualified for the job in the eyes of the current incumbent.

With out wanting to poo poo his hat in the ring, he certainly has the sporting credentials to give him respect and moral authority (been there done it, etc) it would be interesting to hear Vatanen's 'manifesto', or at least his views on say the current f1 debacle, or how he sees the future of world motorsport (leaving aside all the aspects of the fia), you know an interview or two.
