Chrome helmets and liveries

Nice and novel when it first came out but I'm losing interest rapidly. Just looks gaudy and garish now.

Discretion is best when the chrome is applied I think

Nah that's a silver not a chrome. that looks nice.

I think the chrome is a vinyl sheet or something like that.

I still think this looks nice, Alesi's was the first chrome helmet I remember seeing. It can be terrible if overdone though.

I think Trulli has to be the worst offender. He has gone form a nice simple design to the chrome monstrocities at Toyota

Michael was one of the first to get chromed, for the climax of the 1998 season at Suzuka where Mika won and he retired. I'm not sure if the livery was ever used again, possibly thought to have been unlucky. You know how superstitious these F1 chaps are....

I thought Senna wore his gloves inside-out so that the seams didn't interfere with his feel of the wheel, until glove manufacturers caught on and changed the way they stitched them. Now they get stitched externally and you have Senna to thank for it.

Coulthard talks about his pants in his book. He wore them for a few years but then they became unwearable. He still took them to every race after that though, he just didn't wear them.

Not sure I've noticed chrome helmet liveries but chrome (or partly chrome) cars seemed fashionable at Le Mans this year. There were a couple of LMP2 Lola coupes that looked really nice.......just wondering whether I should have my ZT-T chromed.

Yes the blue speedy sebah car looked quite nice but the red one did not. The red and chrome just didn't go.
