German GP travel and hotel

I've got hold of some last minute corporate tickets for the German GP through work. I'm going to drive there at the crack of dawn tomorrow.

1. Does anyone know what the roads around the track are like on qualifying/race day? Hopefully not like Silverstone!

2. Can anyone recommend a town within 30 min drive of the track that's likely to still have reasonably priced hotel rooms?

try adenau for rooms, several hotels there and just 10 mins from teh track. roads were empty today at quarter to 8.

might be worth ringing around the places on here http://www.nurburgring.org.uk/where_to_stay.html

we stayed at http://www.burgstube.com/ last week, you could easily walk to the GP curcuit from there.

Cochem is not very far away and is a nice place to stay

Had lunch there last week on the way from Spa to the Ring for some laps. Not only is it a great place the road from there to the Ring is fantastic!

Suggested fun route on hoontastic smooth, open roads would be E40 motorway to beyond Liege, E42 south to Prum, then 410 all the way through Gerolstein to Kelberg. Turn right at 257 for Cochem or left for Ring

Thanks guys. I couldn't get a booking online so decided to turn up and chance it. I found a place near adenau on the 257 (I think) 15km from the circuit for 22 Euros per person per night!

And the roads on the 257 were surprisingly quiet, no problems with traffic.
