Ive thought in the past about telling my road car insurance company that I hold a national B stage rally competition licence, in hope of reducing my premium - arguing that it makes me a better/safer driver on the road.

Any thoughts?

really not. They will use it as an excuse to say that you drive like a hooligan. Not worth it IMHO

I don't think it makes any difference, but I believe Racing Drivers have a higher risk profile than 'normals', so if you aren't legally obliged to tell them, then don't.

Thats a point I hadnt considered, am I legally obliged to tell them? I know alot of rally drivers in the same position and they certainly havent told insurance scratchchin

whatever you do...when it says occupation..do not pick racing driver!!!

I have to say i didnt believe that putting racing driver would make a difference so tried it and came back with a quote £200 more than if i used my actual job!!
