Oulton Park Sat 25th July

I was @ Oulton on Saturday & only saw 1 Ginetta on the grid - it didn't feature anywhere in particular - Both races being won by the Chevy & Viper respectively, although I'm convinced the Chevy would have taken both wins had it not been for an ongoing missfire that sounded very much like an electrical overheating problem.

Any one else there?

I should really have won both races but I gave Mike Gardiner too much of a doorway into Old Hall and regretted it thereafter. The misfire was the result of a bent valve as we had a gearbox issue that caused me to mis-shift and buzz the motor. I hope you enjoyed the show anyhow!

I was there for all of about 10 minutes!

Engine let go in qualifying....

Although i managed to get a new one in overnight so we could do the TVR race at mallory.

Mike, I'm sorry I didn't see you out on the circuit. I was looking forward to seeing what the car could do, particularly after you were at Brands Hatch.

Sounded like you were short shifting out of the 'Brittens' (previously 'Fulstons') chicane towards hill top, even during race 1. I took the Mrs & my 7 year old lad, we had a really good time & enjoyed the day.....especially the scrap between Mike & yourself.

There weren't many spectators watching from the far end of the circuit, you may have seen us clapping you from Brittens on your slowing down lap?


For some reason, 3 Formula Palmer Audi's went in fairly hard, one after the other, at Island bend - that attracted a few more spectators who were obviously there for all the wrong reasons IMHO.

Yes it was very dissapointing not to be out. Although looking at your times i think i would have been about half a second slower at best.

I was short-shifting out of Brittens all weekend in order to control the back end of the car. If I didn't the back end would step out going over the hill. With over 650ft/lbs to use I figured I wasn't going to lose much for it. As the footage shows I should have had Mike at Island but for some reason, I know not what, I didn't. I'll regret it for a long time. For what it's worth I did see you and thank you for the wave.

Mike, will we be seeing you again this year? Donington perhaps?

We will see what happens. To be honest i dont really have the budget for GT cup. I will see what happens with getting a new engine built. I was going to be doing the Brands indy race but now have other comitments.
