A return to the 1970s

Just a thought here, I've seen it half mentioned in another thread, but it could provide some interesting discussion on its own.
Is anybody actually half excited that quite a few manufacturer teams have left, or are definitely leaving, or look to be on the way out (Honda/BMW/Renault)? I shall explain...
At the start of the year, I was overjoyed to see a "good old fashioned team of british engineers" sweep all before them. Yes I know it was technically a factory Honda etc etc, but Brawn had/have that engineering spirit behind them. No fancy pitlane motorhomes with nightclubs attached, but a good, simple, well thought out and designed car, bending the rules to the maximum, taking on the big factory teams at their own game.
It's also good to see Williams on the up again, with Rosberg picking up some good qualifying results, and doing better in the races.
So, potentially, I can see F1 in a few years perhaps with only a couple of "manufacturer" teams - Ferrari and Mercedes (McLaren).
That leaves the rest of the grid - Willians, Brawn, ProDrive(?!), Manor etc etc etc as mainly Brithsh located, chassis building, engineering based teams, perhaps with the option of one of a few customer engines (Mercedes, Cosworth, Ferrari)...
The parallels with the mid 1970s era are obvious, and I'm quite excited about it!

As I said in the BMW leaving thread, It has really ignited my interest again seeing Brawn at the front, Williams making up ground again and the reduction in Factory team dominance.
We will always have Ferrari and some teams strongly factory supported (Mercedes) but the ret being independent outfits would be great.
