Michael Schumacher on a diet
Discussion
How can you lose 3Kg in a week? That's almost half a stone. It's taken me a year to lose that much!
Or maybe he simply laid a cable the size of a tube of pringles?

if i was told that i needed to get in shape in order to drive for ferrari for the rest of the year, i'd probably be able to shift 3 kgs in a week too
from what i saw recently tho, he had put on a few lbs of 'non-competetive podge' and i would think for schumacher, who really pushed the game in terms of physical fitness during his racing years, it would probably be quite easy for him to shed the weight and get back close at least to his former level.

hire Sir Ranulph Fiennes and practice a week hauling a sledge in a cold country
He was using 0ver 11,000 calories a day on his artic expedition hauling a 500lb sled !!!!and still losing weight
No thats not a mis print
There are a couple of things to take into consideration: the first is never believe what people say about how much is lost as it's usually not a reliable number. For one, when was the last time he was weighed? Is he thinking of a number that was a month old? Two? Also, one's weight fluctuates a lot depending on hydration and how much one has eaten recently. If he didn't weigh himself under the same conditions both times, the numbers will be misleading. I'd say that part of the six kilos is adipose tissue and the rest is inconsistent weighing method, and a difference in hydration/food.

Given that for all of his "working" life Schumi's weight would have been a major consideration - and given that his diet and exercise regime will have been pretty scientifically controlled - I think we could assume that he knows how/when to weigh himself?Though he was also a professional liar, allegedly

3kg a week is virtually impossible.
That is the equivalent of 27,000 calories.
Assume he eats 2000 a day (and that is low for someone on training), he needs to burn 41,000 calories.
BMR will account for maybe 2000 a day, leaving 27,000 to be burnt off by exercise.
A marathon will burn around 3.5k, so has he done 7 marathons in the last week?

Possible but a lot of loss will be fluid/water. Seems a lot for just a week though so not sure if that bit is true. 3kg in 3/4 weeks is easily possible though.Muzzlehatch said:

You're not doing it right LOL
I've lost almost 2 stone since April. That's with doing NO exercise (have been out of action with back, operation a month ago). Rate of loss slows a lot as you go on but I'm starting physical training this week so expect another 3-6 kg off in the next 6/12 weeks. If you're already "lean/trim" then it's harder to remove the weight (but then again, if you're trim/lean then you don't need to lose any!!!!

Actually, reading that article, is doesn't mention ANYTHING about ONE week....? Just says he's lost 3kg but doesn't say since when...
It was done by simply removing his wallet from his jeans...
I'm sure many anti-schumacher peeps could lose the same weight easily enough by removing the massive shoulder laden chip

Yikes, that would probably do the trick. He was using 0ver 11,000 calories a day on his artic expedition hauling a 500lb sled !!!!and still losing weight
I assumed that they meant the weight was lost since he agreed to drive Massa's car, i.e. 1 week ago, as that would make sense in the context.
Still, good on him for knuckling down to the task.
Muscle burns fat. If you have a good amount of muscle and you change your diet and do a lot of work 3Kg in a week is posible (This dose not mean he rearly did it). I have lost about 3Kg in a week when doing a lot of work befor I got used to eating more to keep my thing level. The only bad point is it only took 2 weeks to put it all back on againe.

I suspect you lost most of that 3kg in water. Unless you were burning some 4000 calories a day in exercise.Forums | General Motorsport | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
