So chaps, whose off to Silverstone this weekend and whom do you want to win?

I would quite like to see the Viper win as it will then be a closer three way tussle at the top of the leaderboard.

Also, great to see the Lamborghini Blancpain Super Trofeo is finally getting an airing!

I see that the Moslers have been banned and their results to date have been expunged from the record.

Quite a ridiculous situation that benefits no-one, as if/when the Jones' Ascari wins the series those of us viewing from the sidelines will consider it without merit.

What hope for BGT in 2010? With there being less than a dozen cars for Silverstone, and no more than a single entry in the non-GT3 classes, is there a chance that no-one will bother next year and switch to Britcar or one of the European GT3 series.

They just seem intent on destroying the championship and any credibility left with it.

Shorty was quoted earlier in the season in an interview saying that the daggers were out for the 'new boys'. Seems the old guard have got their way.

is there an Echo in here?

I have that de-ja-vu feeling all over again.

ignoring the politics, how can you throw yet more cars out when there are sod all there to start with?

(and was it not Ratel that was encouraging Martin to enter the Mosler and get it homologated in the first place?)

What makes it even more laughable is that the Ascari is running without the equalisation measures of last year, so they're 80kg lighter and not 20mm higher. Irony? I think they should paint it on the side of their car.

Odd that, considering Shorty has been in Brit GT's longer than the Jones'

This whole thing stinks, and i realy can't be bothered with the series anymore. Shame as i've followed it from when it was the BRDC GT's back in 98/99

I think he wad referring to the fact that Rollcentre were returning to the series with a polished team having done Le Mans for 5 years. It was in a DSC article and he (Shorty) says that 'people' were surprised when they rocked up with a well drilled team and did well, it caused a certain amount of friction amongst the old guard. He goes on to say that as the BGT field was so weak that the 'old guard' maybe expected to clean up, thus their unpleasantness when things haven;t quite gone that way. It sounds like a rather unpleasant paddock.

Nail >>>>Head.

BGT is all about image, this was some of the problem when we rocked up with a ProSport - first question I got asked is where was my truck and put this 20" banner on it! then we (and Ian Stinton) had the nerve to actually go quite well, so out came the knives (RPM anyone?)

At the end of the day, it's all about who's ego needs massaging, and sod all about racing per-say.

As Said, Martin has run in all kinds of stuff, and been competitive in just about all of it, from Tuscans though to Le-Mans, now look at the other teams in BGT and compare their track record.

It's a great shame, I am very much into GT style racing, and loved the serise 10+ years ago when it was very competitive with some proper machinery and drivers in it, these days it's a joke (A large part can be put down to the GT3 concept IMHO)

you only have to look at GT-Cup to see where BGT has gone wrong, big grids, friendly paddock, etc.

Unfortunately the Jones' have seem to have a win at all costs mentality. Which has been notied in previous years too.

I agree about "image" it's been focused on too much rather than on quality of teams a nd racing. BGT's used to be an endurance series, getting teams/driveers ready to move up to the longer FIA/Le Mans type races. Now it's a glorified clubbie series frown
Simon, I remember you coming with the ProSport, and how you got disuaded from carrying on with it. There was a time the series had a reputation as the best 'National' and people wanted to bring such a variety of cars. Then a change in controllers and it began a long slide down. The continuing reclassification/redrawing of lines has ruined this once great series (I admit the ecomomy has had a hand in things too)

Now why does the GT-Cup series work so well? is it MSV? or that the people who made BGT's so good are the people behind it? Certainly the friendly and welcoming attitudes are helping
