Production Class Racing

Does anyone know of any Championships where you can race Production Class cars, other than Britcar. Britcar prices are to high and the Championship seems geared to GTs with Production there just to fill the grid. I've heard rumours the Bute Motorsport are going to run a Production Class in their GT Cup. Anyone got any ideas?????

You need to define your definition of production class racing I think. Production S1 (Britcar) is not in anyway shape or form Production Class racing, its just a name and to that end Stock Hatch and Sportmax are far from it as well.

What sort of car are you talking about and what sort of budget. It would also help if we knew why your concept of Production class is important because that will effect some options... Stock Hatch or Production class Lotus is in no way a production class but for example Caterham and even Radical racing is.

Even in the days of 'Production Saloons' back in the '80's and '90's, there was a lot of time and money spent on the cars (even the legal ones!), so it was not a cheap option, but they were probably the closest to showroom cars with minimal modification you could find.

They tried to revive it a few years ago but it seems most competitors want more freedom with the regs?

There's the SELOC BMW series. I believe that's reasonably restricted so will be fairly cost-effective...

I'm looking at a similar car to the ones that run in the Production S1. Probably more like a class 2 or 3 car rather than the Class 1. Budget is similar was just wondering if there are any alternatives. Would prefer it not to be a 1 make series so that there is a larger scope of cars to buy.

The Dunlop Sport Maxx Production Cup is in its second championship year, and is growing with a mix of teams ranging from BTCC's Triple Eight and Team AFN to privateers with road legal cars.
