Mansell at Silverstone

Our Nige' will be racing alongside his son (Greg) in an LMP1 car at the 1000Km event next month then!

I'm quite keen to go take a look anyway, but if he can wrestle an LMP around like he used to an F1 car, could well be worth a watch!

Apparently when Mansell tested a prototype with his sons last year Mansell Sr was the quickest!

Still the Ginetta Zytek is a quicker car than the old Chamberlain Lola so this should be a promising start for them.
They've finally found backing they've been looking for since that test - or perhaps Tomlinson is putting all of the money down.

I thought Greg beat him by a fraction at that test? There was an article in one of the magazines about it. My memory is hopeless though. I hope he's more competitive than his run in the 430GT2 at Silverstone a couple of years ago. Really looking forward to this as long as there are no free tickets given away this year...

Free tickets to those who genuinely can't afford it an go for the the sport but not for those who just want to get wrecked in a different location to normal and have no control over their children.

That and the 1.5hr queues to get in from every direction. I missed the first half hour of the race and found all the chumps causing my delays were wandering around getting p*ssed up and not watching the race. Same the the WSR events. I was very fortunate to seeing the Dallara Nissan series' first UK race supporting ISRS in 1998 so followed the series since then. However the two events at Donington where they gave away free tickets were horrific. Loads of chavs drinking, shouting and swearing at people.

I love to see new faces at events, but I do not wish to be verbally abused, nor miss out on seeing something which genuinely delights me because some folk fancy a free day at the races. Amazingly the Superleague Formula races at DP a few weeks ago were not marred by the same kind of attendants, despite free tickets from Liverpool Football Club (which I gratefully took advantage of).

It's the football shirt wearing chavs that stand up infront of you in the grandstands because they can't find a seat, because they don't understand nor care that to watch a race you tend to get to the grandstands BEFORE the race starts.

Watch for obscure bodies being tossed onto the track is all I can... advise.

Just head around the south side of the circuit - they never go there. Better viewing, too.

Personally never really had a problem last year.

I thought it was a great day out for all the family. I came across more idiots at the BTCC meeting than the LMS.

I've been to one of the WSR events at Donny a few years ago and that was bloody horrible. I've since vowed never again will I go to a WSR meeting!

That is true and I always make a point of doing a full perimeter walk of the circuit, especially for the long distance races. The problem is that traffic coming along the A43 Westbound was directed in through the main entrance, along the back of the start/finish straight to park behind the pit straight gate. This meant I was a 20 minute walk from Stowe and Club.

In fairness I should've allowed more time for my journey and arrived earlier, but I hadn't realised Peugeot and Audi had given away something like 40,000 free tickets so didn't account for the extra queuing time. I don't think Silverstone's traffic management were aware either as it was total chaos! I met my dad there who had come from the West and he experienced the same issues but was directed to a field about half a mile from the circuit towards Stowe School! He was about an hour ahead of me as well.

Back on topic - Mansell Mania. Can't wait!
