Paddy Power Brawn Pay-Out

ISTR Paddy Power (himself) on the radio a couple of months ago saying that, since it was obvious that Button would win the championship this year, his operation was going to pay out on all of the bets on that outcome.

Does anybody know, did that ever happen? And, if it did, what happens if poor old Button doesn't pull it off?

There's little chance of Button not winning: virtually none. When the RBs were the only car with a chance against the Brawns, even then, with the drivers fighting it out between themselves, the odds were against it. Now with McLaren being the one to beat, at least in LH's hands, Webber or Vettel's chances look very poor indeed. I can't see RB being able to support one driver over the other as Vettel is their man but Webber has the most points. All very difficult. If Webber wins tomorrow and Vettel is fourth or lower, then he'll have a great big lever. But if Vettel beats Webber, then that will really put the cat just where it wants to be.

The only thing that can stop LH winning another couple of races this season is a stewards' decision, a last throw of the Mosley dice. Doneelley is sitll i/c and it under his guidance that things have deteriorated to farce. So still time.

I would have said that Button was champion even if the Brawn had not shown significant improvement in practice so I'm very confident now. It's not like Brawn to pee into the wind and when he said that his team had found the 'problem' with the car I reckoned he was telling the truth.
