Just come out on Autosport, Fisi is in from Monza to the end of the season!
Always had a soft spot for Fisi and I think this is great news... Will be interesting to see how he stacks up against Raikkonen...

I notice the article in Autosport with the statement from Mallya says "Furthermore the agreement will secure Giancarlo's long-term future with Ferrari ".
Does this mean he's on for next season as well? If that's the case what about Massa and Alonso?

I see. That seems like a bit of a step down though, from a front-running car in a driver's seat to a benchwarmer at the red team? Are FI likely to not be around in the future? I would have thought recent form would have secured their position...Gylen said:

Fisi was only contracted to the end of the year with Force India anyway. His position is probably no worse than it was before. Yeah seems a shame as Fisi has done a sterling job this season in the FI.
As far as I'm aware Force India are well and truly committed for next season, maybe just the lure of Ferrari for an Italian is too much even if it's in a test driver's role...
Not really sure to be honest, as the test driver role is just rumours at the moment... Given his performance last weekend would be a shame if he wasn't in a race seat next season.

Fisi has always seemed to me one of those drivers who've had the talent but not the opportunity - it's great to see him finally in a decent car.
I remember he moved to Benetton just when Renault pulled out, and they started getting rubbish. Then to Jordan when Honda pulled their engine support. I firmly believe his input has turned Force India into a decent mid-field contender, so good on him, and good on Ferrari for snapping him up.

Agree 100%. All too umcommon in F1 these days. I get the impression from people's replies to this topic and others on the forum that Fisi is a popular guy amongst the fans and from Force India's statement you'd have to say he's very popular within the team...It's a nice change from the usual fighting.
Really hope that he can shine at Monza and in the remaining GP's... Alonso and Fisichella teammates again next year??? Almost definitely not but stranger things have happened...

Oh, there has undoubtedly been some wheeler-dealing going on behind the scenes "for sure". However, I'm equally sure that, as an Italian, Fisi will probably view driving for Ferrari, even for just the remainder of this season, as being a dream come true if not the pinnacle of his career. He's also 36 so he's coming towards the end of his F1 career anyway.

Imagine if he can beat KR in all the upcoming races!! He made Button look crap when they were team mates at Renault!
