Who will win the 2009 F1 championship title?

I think the top contenders are Rubens Barrichello, Jenson Button, Sebastian Vettel (if he doesn't break another engine and trigger a ten point penalty), and maybe Mark Webber but I don't think he will now.

I really want Rubens to win because He has never won the championship. He tried his best against his Ferrari team mate Schumacher but was in his shadow twice.

I think Rubens has a good chance against Button and really deserves a world title as he is getting older now.He is a nice person and a great driver.

With four races left it will be close.
Who do you think and who do you want to win? Hope you have enjoyed this season as much as I have. I have to go now as I am supposed to be in bed

I have been a fan of Button since day 1, have met him at Goodwood a couple of times, and he is a thoroughly nice chap, for this reason, and also to silence all the "button haters" on PH... I want him to win it.....

Button. But only just with rubens in 2nd. after crashing out in italy webber has lost any realistic chance of winning and vettel just seems to have lost the speed lately. the fact is Button had a brilliant start to the season and a pretty poor middle however none of his rivials made that big an impact. i would be very happy if rubens won as he has spent most of his carrer in someone elses spot light but i have to support the brit!

Either J Button or R Barricello(sp) either way it will be a massive achievement for Brawn GP and show that money dosen't decide everything.

Im pretty sure the Brawn GP car isn't quite the bargain bucket racer that everyone makes it out to be.

Edited to add: I would love it if Sebastian Vettel won, although it looks like it would be pretty difficult considering his engine problems.

Button for me, want him to win it, thought he had bottled it a few races ago but if he can carry on and drive like he did at the weekend he should be alright, hopefully next few tracks will favour the Brawn. Wouldn't mind it going down to the wire though!

Followed him since he first got into cars.

Since the race is now more or less just between him and Rubens; as one of them said; proves nice guys can win! (of course someone will point out that the Red Bulls can still do it, but the numbers are against them!)

I have followed Button since he was karting. He is a top bloke and thoroughly deserves to win.
He can finish second from now on and still win.

It would be nice if he could win again though...at Suzuka...Honda's track

What about the millions and millions that Honda spent on developing the car? It's strange that so many people are claiming this is a miracle and it's great that one of the smaller teams in F1 is winning something. Honda were one of F1s biggest spenders, it's just a different name.

Button would be my choise. Vettel has no chance in hell so i wish people would stop mentioning his name - he has as much chance as Webber which is Zero.

Its purely down to Button and Rubens.

Barri's situation at Ferrari was one he entered into with eyes wide open.

I sympathise that he had a championship-winning car and rarely won a race let alone a WDC in it, but that was his choice when he signed the contract. He "put up with" a situation that he voluntarily entered into.

If he wins the championship this year he does deserve it on merit, but he doesn't deserve a WDC on the strength of several years as a contracted No.2 driver.



I think Button will win it, but Barri has as good a chance. One mechanical failure or clash with another car for JB and the championship would be thrown open again.

I'd like Rubens to win it,he surely has'nt got that many seasons left in F1,it would be a great way to end his career,where as JB has plenty of seasons ahead of him.

JB, for sure.

RB is a good guy, but he moans about being number 2- it was his choice, and he never mentions how much extra his career gainned from his stint with most sucessful team in F1. Also his out burst to about the team being number 2 was not good.

I'd love it to be Jenson, but I have this horrible feeling he's going to 'tense up' even more as we get closer to the end of the season and Barri will keep nibbling away at his points.

Last race decider, with Barri winning in a 'nothing to lose' showdown off the grid.

Kinda my thoughts too!

I think what is more interesting is not the £££ spent by Honda/Brawn, rather the fact that the team was thrown into huge confusion when Honda pulled out and all those people were not expecting to be in jobs again etc, all came together and bloody quick too.

My 2 pence anyway FWIW!!

What's made that car is the Merc engine. If it was still Honda they would still be at the back of the grid. The Honda engine was widely regarded as the worst engine in F1

The Merc Engine? So why is Mclaren and Force India so far adrift? Its much more than that engine, double diffuser along with a great aero package are the main factors.
