Mx5 Trackslag photos.
Discussion
Ok, so to disappoint but im looking rather than showing.
- Ive seen a fair few mx5's out on track on trackdays many of which have managed not only to look like a lot of fun but shake of the there slightly feminine looks, usually by the application of a matt black paintjob and some slightly larey looking tyres and a few stickers of choice.
However i cant really find any photos, and in a battle to beat the doubters (who want to buy a E30) im after some nice eyecandy showing off some capable looking mark1 mx5's.
Also, any thoughts or points to argue the case for or against choosing and mx5, e30, or any other car for our next uni motorclub shared vehicle

If its a trackslag why are you worried about the looks? Or do just want something to look like a trackslag?
My cheap, slightly tired, almost standard example demonstrating that while stiffer ARBs would be beneficial, its still great fun:

Have also done a few laps in this tarmac rally MX5, more grip than mine but the only real increase in fun was due to being properly harnessed in.

Plenty to choose from there

I dont care what it looks like, and dont think it looks that bad anyway, im just getting some doubters within the rest of the club and trying to push the battle in favour of something fun on thr track thats a bit diffrent to maybe what others have driven, rather than end up with another front wheel drive hatchback which is what everyones got already anyway (think mk2 golf, again). Or something big and heavy like a E30, Merc W202, Saab900, etc that would be expensive to make fun and logistical hard as you cant really tow on on a post97 driving licence.
Didnt think about scouring the mx5 thread, so i'll get on it, hopfully theres some slaggy ones in there!

IMO one of the great things about them is how little you have to do to them - suspension etc is very adjustable as standard (castor, camber, toe etc), they're mechanically solid - drive to the track, thrash it all day and drive home. Simple to work on if you do break anything too.
If I was doing more trackdays I'd put a decent bucket seat in though as the standard ones aren't that supportive. If you want grip/laptimes you can go for stiffer suspension and sticky rubber, but I find it just as much fun using mid-range road tyres and enjoying the balance and adjustability on the limit.

Makes it look a little too low for my liking.
