Why would anyone choose an RS200?

By any objective definition of "best" the RS200 is a long way short.

For rally cars? Well lets be honest it isnt actually that long a list. It basically goes:

Healey 3000
Mini
HF
Stratos
Escort
Quattro
S4
Integrale
205 T16
Imprezza
EVO

Of that lot you have to look at the Deltas and combine their results. Once you do that you pretty much realise on the rally side its no contest. The Lancia Delta is best rally car there has ever been by a country mile.

Race cars? Its either very simple or very complicated depending on how you look at it. The variety and complexity of the diverse range of racing cars or the competence of once across a range or longevity. To my mind that makes 5 particular motors stand out:

1. Alfa 138/9
2. Maserati 250F
3. Jaguar D Type
4. Porsche 917
5. Lotus 49

There is of course a leftfield answer...the immortal 7.

Ambrose ressurected Ford in the supercars after some terrible years with the AU falcon.

Don't quote me but I believe he raced the same chassis for pretty much all of his 2003 & 2004 Championships.

Just the Delta chaps. Why exclude the S4?

As to the Lotus question. Do you pick the 49 or 72? Which won more, lasted longer, was more successful and more innovative?

When you say F1, do you mean GP? GP racing predates F1 racing by a few decades so it would ne very remiss to omit some of the great GP cars of the pre WW2 era.

This, for example, must rank as one of the all time greats of motor racing
