Massa & Fizzi to stay at Ferrari 1 & 3, 2nd seat open

Ferrari have confirmed Felipe Massa will be there number one driver next season and Giancarlo Fisichella their third.

Pre-Accident Massa...I wouldn't be so sure about that. Post-Accident Massa....unknown quality. I can't see it not affecting him at all. But it might just make him more determined and better...or the other way...

If this was an official announcement, it seems at least slightly premature.
Has Massa been tested sufficiently since his injury to be certain that he will be able to return to his previous level?

No. Fisi is signed up to be the reserve driver. There will only be 2 drivers racing for each team next year. It is in the regulations for 2 drivers only.

Felipe Massa has commenced training for his 2010 return to Formula One, Ferrari team boss Stefano Domenicali told reporters in Singapore on Friday.

As he recovers from head injuries sustained in July, the 28-year-old Brazilian has already signalled his intention to race in two kart events before Christmas.

"He has started a training programme," Domenicali confirmed.

"The next step will be to start on the simulator and then to do some kart. When these things will be fine we will decide when to bring him back in a proper racing car," he added.
