Why do they bother interviewing Bernie ?

Seriously, why does anyone bother interviewing Bernie - he invariably comes out with a load of pettyfogging ste which bears no relation to what he was asked. Just watched him being interviewed on BBC and the man simply cannot answer a question without attempting to bog the interviewer down in irrelevant quibbles about the question itself.

Bernie said Martin Sorrell (the guy the question related to) has nothing to do with F1 and CVC, and Jake Humphreys should 'check his facts' - Martin is actually a CVC board member so it does have something to do with him.

3m20s BE quite clearly says 'you should check up first before you say things, because hes not involved in CVC'

He is a master tactician. To exert that much control over a business full of very sharp operators is incredible. There is no other sport in the world where a single individual has so much control.

In that short interview he managed to undermine Sorrell and CVC. Show Flav that he did support him in the WC meeting. Tell us that Flav WILL be back in the sport in a few years. Inform Gillet that he has had his last chance and keep the BRDC on their toes regarding the GP. Whilst avoiding being tied down on anything.

I love the Bernie interviews.

I love Bernie - he is a master tactician - probably one of the greatest business men on the planet.

His biggest mistake though was letting Max get too powerful. And that is a big mistake !!

Well, when you look at how other fields of motrosport have fared over the years - the total lack of interest in WRC for instance, the splitting of Indycars, top level motorbiking not knowing what to call itself, and so forth, i think Bernie has been great for F1. The presidents of the FIA have been a total disaster, so I'm glad we've had Bernie.

For someone in charge his focus always seems to be (when being interviewed) saying as little as possible leading to awkward silences , I have yet ever to hear him go into a detailed explanation just always verbal tennis , and not very helpful answers , I've heard far better politicians TBH , and theres no way you could have a relaxing pint with a guy like that , it would be painful.

Do you not think that's down to the interviewer though? You say you've heard better politicians, but i reckon all the ones i ever hear waffle on ad-infinitum without ever answering the question. Bernie is a highly intelligent man imo, and so as much as I like Jake Humphries, a former childrens tv presenter is possibly not the best guy to interview him.

Though at least he's a million times better than Steve bloody Ryder.

I noticed that as well. It was actually his right side (left as you look at him)

His right eye (the hardest one for most people to wink with)kept gradually closing as a question was asked. Looked a bit strange I thought.
