F1 GP Singapore - What Is The Point?

Is it just me or is the whole F1 night race in Singapore pointless? Seems to be a little lacking in atmosphere with no sign of large crowds or any sense of occasion. Qualifying finished at 11pm.... whats that all about?
Safety - for years Bernie & the FIA have been banging on about safety & then they sanction a race beween concrete blocks! Have they forgotten Clay Regazzoni's accident at Long Beach many years ago?

I prefer watching Moto GP these days. Much more exciting. Bernie is so driven by money that he has really 'dropped the ball' with F1 now.
Just not exciting anymore. All the fast challenging circuits are slowly being dropped & we are lumbered with dull circuits.
I know i will get hammered for this comment but hey ho - Donington in place of Silverstone? No. That iS just plain wrong.
Silverstone is fast, exciting, challenging & fun. Donington just isnt a GP circuit. Silverstones' facilities might not be perfect but the fans love the place & it always sells out every year.

As to qualifying finishing at 11pm - it's so us European fans don't have to be up obscenely early to watch. In other words, the whole things is done for the fans.
What is your problem? We still have Monza, Spa and Silverstone.
I don't know what you are seeing, but i am out here and the grandstands for yesterdays quali were packed out!!!
Also the crowds walking around the circuit to all the viewing spots are huge too....
out of 100,000 tickets available i gather that 95,000 have sold!! with 40,000 going to foreign visitors!!
Atmosphere here seems prety damn good.

1 - its not designed by Tilke
2 - It has been sold out both years
3 - The crowds are there from the friday onwards
4 - fantastic filming (IMO)
5 - new concept for F1 (given that they have been racing under lights in the US for ages)
6 - there is a world outside Europe you know ... lots of motorsports fans live in Asia, Australia and New Zeeland, plus 2 current Asian teams, soon to be 3 or more next year.

Yeah we're good sort of.
Kinda decided to be less of a globetrotter... trying to get the HSV Senator legalised here in Spain.
Trying to get missus legalised too.
Getting the shipment from Oz through customs was like having cocktail sticks inserted under my fingernails and equally expensive but that's a done deal now.
Busy trying to get a job now...
Once all is normalised I'll be waking the "trade" side of things again.

Yes, Moto GP is much more exciting and better racing. Unfortunately, things won't change until the dwarf either retires or dies.
As for Singapore, crowds are down on last year, only 80,000 tickets sold. Numbers may look bigger but there's lots of the prawn sandwich corpulant hospitality done here, probably more than Monaco.
As a street circuit its marginally better than Valencia.
