Sky Bet have installed Lewis Hamilton as 5/2 favourite in their 2010 Drivers’ Championship betting following his win in Singapore on Sunday. The reigning world champion’s victory in Formula 1’s second night race was his second of the 2009 season.

Renault’s Fernando Alonso, who cruised into third place in Singapore, is Sky Bet’s 7/2 second favourite in the 2010 betting, with 2009 champion-in-waiting Jenson Button 7/1 sixth favourite.

Sky Bet’s Formula 1 betting spokesman Dave Pilgrim said: “McLaren have really got to grips with the new regulations as the season has progressed and it’s impossible to have anyone else as favourite in the 2010 market.

“Alonso looks certain to join Ferrari now, so he is second in the betting with the likelihood of a highly competitive car, while we expect Raikkonen to be at McLaren, and he might enjoy another battle with Massa for podium finishes in 2010.”

Raikkonen v Hamilton in the same team with probably the best car should make for a cracking season.

I would have thought that no refuelling was a big change.

On current form, Lewis is my favourite. But form has been so wayward this year and that is what has made it so interesting. If it's the same next year we could have another interesting and open season.

The 2010 rules will favour a driver that can look after his tyres. No doubt Alonso can but I think Hamilton will have to learn a new skill. Hamilton has a tendency to use his raw talent and speed, throwing the car around. The Brawns are easy on tyres and Button is too. Providing they have the resources to develop the 2010 car then they could be worth a bet at 7:1. I might put a fiver on Rosberg, depending on where he ends up. Don't know why the Ferrari will be the best car though???

I honestly think LH will be the next champ, but, if the rumours surrounding Kimi moving back to McL are true the fantasist in me thinks he might up the ante somewhat.

I think 2010 is going to be a seriously interesting year in F1 regardless, so many drivers that have the talent, and so many interesting moves.

Worth noting that the Red Bull is competetive despite the restriction they have on the defuser side, expect that to be sorted, which will throw Vetel and Webber into the mix.

I don't really see how Lewis is favourite. The McLaren is losing it's biggest advantage (Kers) and he's very hard on tyres

That is next year but I don't think it will cause much of a shake up, perhaps favouring cars that run well in high fuel loads. The aero regs are the same which is what has made the difference this year.

JB must be worth a punt as with no refuelling a driver who's easy on his tyres must have a good chance.

I would agree with Alonso and Hamilton being the forerunners. Despite the fuel tank change next year's cars will be more evolution than revolution (as this year's cars were)and when this happens we see the wealthiest and technically strongest teams rise to the top. That's Ferrari and McLaren. Although you could never rule out a surprise, I think it's less likely than it was before this year.

Exactly, thats why i laugh at the smooth driver quotes that keep getting attributed to Jenson as if its a positive aspect. If anything it was the Brawns that were moaning about tyres this year, not Mclaren - Infact i cant actually remember Mclaren drivers complaining about tyre wear this whole season.

As others have said, the 2010 rule changes would seem to favour drivers with a degree of mechanical sympathy and the ability to calmly play a long game during a race.
My money would be on Fernando, hamilton is too brutal on his machinery, can’t see Kimi doing much unless the competition with hamilton gees him on more than with Massa, Vettel may well surprise us all and I can’t discount Button as his driving style will suit the new rules better than most (remembering how effective Prost was with similar rules)

We will be back to Jenson's smooooooooooth sloooooooooooooooooooooooow style and he will be left at the back of the grid unless he sorts something out, in my opinion i can see Hamilton just dominating next year....Here come's the hate comments, come on bring them on
