+1Maybe it's because 130R is a little tighter so it's not as easy to take flat out.

Near flat out but now easily full throttle now?Best story is that in 1991 Schumi crashed his car there in qualy, quickly jumped into Piquet's car and managed to set a time quicker than Piquet!
Blanchimont and Eau Rouge are easily flat out. Best corner at Spa is Pouhon.
Goes to show the development of F1 cars. Copse has become the new Eau Rouge in F1 circles. In 2007 Hamilton was struggling to take in flat out in qualy but did it for his pole lap.

It used to boil down to whether your 'nads were big enough for you to take it flat in top gear.Now it's rather easier (but not necessarily easy) to do that compared with a few years ago so some of the challenge has gone.

It's not really a special corner for spectators and TV viewers. Rather, it's a special corner for drivers. F1 drivers love high-speed flat/nearly-flat corners (it's why they love Spa).kiteless said:

Speaking of cojones. Patrese congratulated Mansell for taking pole in '91/92 British GP (can't remember which exactly) by grabbing Mansell's cojones!
If I remember rightly, 130R is got to at full chat at top speed isn't it - after a long build up of full throttle for a good long while? Fairly narrow too (though maybe not with run off) and heavy braking just after you finish the corner - excellent
