Classic McLaren Teamwear?

So, I've got quite a fair bit of the latest McLaren teamwear, but I'm looking now for some of the older stuff, mostly from the Marlboro sponsored era but also the West era. So far I've found this quite nice looking paddock jacket:

I'm also looking for the team shirt in the same style, and possibly as I said the team kit from the West sponsorship era. Most of it seems to be rarer than chickens teeth though, and the occasional gem that does appear, like the jacket I'm looking at, is very expensive.

Apparently McLaren actually shred a lot of their 'old' team wear. Dunno exactly why, but I did receive this info from a reliable source (the wife of one of their employees).

At the end of each season all of the clothing was 'destroyed', being either property of Marlboro or West. Also each team member had to check in and out all of their clothing after each GP....I know becaise I did over 40 GP's with the team.

Finally the shirts etc were all embroided with 'personal names' and I doubt ex employees kept their clothing even when leaving McLaren. Why on earth do you want old McLaren shirts?

I know lots of guys with quite a bit their old kit, including fireproofs. Lots of things would get lost, especially with hotel laundries. And ditto, I used to worked for them too for my sins... There just might be the odd item in my wardrobe

Theres a guy from Vienna or somewhere who trades in used gen team clothing and other items , he's always at the Autosport show , others on here will know him , probably worth trying him , he occasionally puts ex team things on e bay as well.

I don't think he lists everything he has , worth an e mail as he probably gets hold of stuff to order or can put you on a "wish list".

I had a load of 80's Saudia and 90's Renault Williams racewear / casual stuff, and 90's Marlboro McLaren stuff that I lobbed in the clothes bank during a clearout earlier this year. Was still in good nick, never really wore it away from the track.

Seems that every time I dump something (e.g., 2 mahoosive fish tanks and associated filtering / heating / lighting hardware for marine fish), someone pops up looking for some on here.

I must get an ebay log in and lose the map to the recycling centre.

I bought a 1970's F1 jacket on e-bay, it's made of material that you would only need to show a match to it and it would go up in flames, it's soooo bad but I love it!!

The woman spelt "Formula" wrong so I got it for about a tenner, as nobody else could find it! I use fatfingers.com

Don't know why I want the old styles, I just think they look good. Got a couple of Ferrari Marlboro shirts from late 90's/early 2000's but I've got fatter since then.

Couldn't believe how quickly the jacket I posted originally went up from £50 to £200 in the last few seconds.

As stated earlier mclaren are mega anal about clothing,car parts etc an actually have 2 people who,s job is scouring ebay looking for items that shouldnt be there.Know a friend who got a message saying he shouldnt be selling a certain item an later that day he had a m/cycle courier turn up with a solicitors letter from mclaren at which point he phoned mr whitmarsh at mclaren an told him he might like to check with a certain mr dennis-the man who had given the item to the charity auction my friend had bought the item from !!!
Even stuff from the slr etc is protected like made,even t shirts they sell have a non resale notice on them ! lots of stuff out there but its very much a "black" market an you have to get in with someone in the know

Why bother? A non-resale clause on a clothing label is pointless anyway.

1) Why throw out memorabilia?

2) Surely you must've known these would only be worth more with time?

3) Don't listen to your missus when she decide she needs more shoe space in your wardrobe!

(If I knew how to do that "getting my coat" thing I'd be doing it about now)
