With the FIA presidency vote looming, who would you like to see win the election?

Ari, I fear this will get moved though.

Todt is too close to F1 (and Bernie IMHO) to be of any use. Plus Max is in the Todt camp which can`t be a good thing.

Todt has been successful in rallying, GT racing, F1 and has experience in running Ferrari's production facility.

Vatanen was a successful rally driver who then went into politics. He lacks the experience required for the job when it comes to understanding how other branches of motorsport work in my opinion.

I'm sure both men are very much their own men though and Bernie (or Max for that matter) will have very little sway (if any) on how things are run.

It's interesting to see yet again though that Todt is being condemnded as of no use based purely on His F1 career.

Todt wouldn't be of no use as he has proved himself to be more than capable with his years at Ferrari but I feel he is Mosley's creature and would be biased to a certain red car team.

Ari is coming across as being open and honest which is what is sorely needed

A shame ,but there we go! Mosley certainly will not want to let honesty, consistency and transparency anywhere near the FIA or F1.

Vatanen is the logical, sensible choice. sadly i fear that Todt will get voted in to keep Bernie & his crew happy.

Todt is the wrong man for the job - too close to Ferrari for a start. Might as well have an all Ferari F1 grid as every race wil be contested by Ferrari to ensure that they win for 'the good of the sport'....

Its no good having Todt in the job. Ari is non-political in the sense that he has no skeletons in the cupboard, no affiliations to anyone in motorsport (unlike Todt) & he is completely above board.

I hope i'm proved wrong & that Ari gets voted in. Sadly he wont get the votes.

You do all realise that Todt was the team manager at Peugeot who signed Ari into the fledgling Grp B 205 turbo era............

mojocvh.

yes, i knew that as do probably many others. the simple fact is that todt is not suitable for the job. rather like blair isnt suitable to be 'president of europe' even though that too would appear to a done deal.

its all wrong but what can you do to stop it happening? not a sodding thing. sadly.

Todt would be a more palatable choice if he wasn't reputed to be Mosley's bh!? He's got the credential's and a cracking CV but will surely just continue the regime of crooked autocracy so successfully administered by Moseley.

Therefore my vote goes to Ari. The sport desperately needs a spring clean!

Todt isn't being condemned "purely on his F1 career". He's being condemned because of his over-close relationship with Max Mosley, and the fear that he will continue Mosley's style of governance.

Ari isn't necessarily inexperienced. The role of FIA president is less managerial and more political, and Ari has plenty of experience in the political arena, especially in the areas of road safety and infrastructure development. I think that Ari's FIA will be less concerned with micro-managing each sport, and more concerned with promoting motorsport and vehicle safety at large.

Well after 100 votes, the balance shows 98% are in favour of Vatanen. I think that he has the ability, the tact and the political experience to be a great FIA president. I fear however, that Todt will win... let's hope I'm wrong!

A fear based on what evidence though?.

And Todts FIA would not do the same because...?.

Ask the pro-Vatanen supporters.

Frankly, I don't know enough about either of them, even though I'm leaning toward Vatanen purely for nostalgic reasons. Just use the search function, you'll see plenty of posts about Todt, et al.

A fear based on the fact that Mosley resigned then changed his mind because Todt was not available to walk in to the job. Now that Todt is free, Mosley found it easy to back down to FOTA and accept that his term of governance was over. The fact that Todt is apparently the only person who can take the job over. (I can think of many people who would do a better job than Mosley has done and have less manufacturer ties.) The (Mosley and Todt would disagree with me calling this a fact) fact that the FIA is bankrolling Todt's visits to member countries to try and gain support under the cloak of Todt being an FIA representative for road safety. The fact that Bernie and Max are fully supportive. This alone makes the whole thing seem dodgy. Bernie doesn't back the best person for the job, he backs the person who will make him the most money. Therefore you it must follow that Todt will be as corrupt towards Bernie as Mosley was/is.

nono a democratic vote means that people can vote for who they think would be best in that job.
Isn't it ironic that we are having a democratic poll on this subject, when Mosley is showing all the signs of rigging the voting in Todt's favour.
