What would you race if you won the lottery?

Not a ridiculous Euro roll over jackpot, but just a couple of million. Enough to set yourself up with a new house, a good collection of cars in the garage, and some spare cash to buy and run yourself in something that would normally be out of the question?

I've no delusions of being able to be instantly the next hot thing, and would therefore steer away from anything hyper competetive. A lottery win might buy a privateer "also ran" BTCC drive, however I think that I'd go for one of the following:

Grp N Evo in the BRC or Evo challenge - done rallying and loved it.
Clio Cup - Chase all the young up and comings around at 2 seconds a lap off their pace.
Brit Car including the 24hr, and the Nurburgring 24hr ... That would be fun for me

I'd probably start off with something like the MR2 Championship, primarily to build experience/see if I'm any good, then maybe work up from there

Good call above for the Nurburgring 24hr race. I would probably do the Langstrecke series too if it would dovetail with Britcar.

You haven't put in the costs for damage there! 7.5K at the start of the season for the damage fund, 1.5K excess per accident and probably a 5K top up of the damage fund mid-season.

Realistically, I would probably buy a current Gould or Pilbeam and do the National Hillclimb Championship.

i would do a season in the new formula ford junior championship. But im planning on that without the national lottery win aswell!

I'd be on a paraffin budgie to Charlotte, North Carolina, and in a Nationwide car as a pre-cursor to a season in the Sprint Cup.

That's the Saturday lotto win dealt with.

Now if it were the Eurozillions after a few weeks of Rollover, I'd be up the road to Rockingham with the chequebook, and oik out the existing owners. The oval can then be used again (properly), plus I'd lay some more tarmac to make the 5/8mile (or thereabouts) short oval linking Turns 1 & 4. And then my plans to dominate the world will begin....

Now, a lump from a Le Mans car would be a different matter...

If I could scrape together about £250k I'd contest the FIA European drag racing championship in a heartbeat, without question it'd have to be in the Pro Modified category;







It'd have to be a second hand car and probably only one strong engine but it'd probably be competitive.

I couldn't imagine doing a single seater series where being over 6 foot and having a healthy appetite for food and beer would automatically put me at the back of the grid no matter what driving talents I could unlock.

Great question. I've always liked the idea of racing a 964 or 993 in a 'gentlemen's' series, and it would be great to have a go at Shelsey in something older. Maybe I should start doing the Lotto...
