Saturday 10/10 9pm

V8 SUPERCARS RD 10 : BATHURST
Live start to finish coverage of the Bathurst 1000, the crown jewel in the Australian V8 Supercars season from the awesome Mount Panorama Circuit.

So hopefully they will show the full 7 hours

You can watch and have as many beers as you want, unlike if you were at the event:

Fans 'limited' to 24 beers a day
Fans going to a motorsport festival have been warned of an alcohol crackdown - they can drink just the 24 cans of beer a day.
Those on light beer can bring 36 cans, said officers policing the Bathurst 1000, a four-day festival in New South Wales, Australia

I am sure that in the past spectators used to go into the circuit a few days early and bury "supplies" for the weekend.

There are a few overseas entrants from the UK, including Andy Priaulx and Ben Collins. There are some cousins from across the pond in NZ as well (including regular driver, Fabian Coulthard, who is a nephew of The Chin of F1 fame). Other interesting entrants include Troy Bayliss, former world Superbikes champion.

you missed Thompson. has always tended to be good few Brits there most years, Cleland and others always used to go over some time back. Not sure it will be on any channels here (Ukraine)....

Yes, I believe that is the case. Should be a nice day, here in NZ its practically a public holiday for guys. Even more so in Australia.

I know what I'll be spending Sunday doing! The tricky part is BBQ-ing only during ad breaks, because according to Murphy's Law* if you do leave the race even for a moment something exciting will happen.






* Note this is different to Greg Murphy's Law, which is "I am always in the right no matter how badly I was driving when I punted the other guy off the track"

Let me get this straight. You have a limit of 24 cans of beer a day, for a four day event. Who the hell can drink 96 cans of beer in 4 days? Or 5 and a hlaf bottles of wine, so 22 bottle of wines in four days. And people have to go and bury more?

Am I a total lightweight or do these numbers seem a bit silly?

Also are there highlights shown anywhere/anytime?

It's Australia.

If you have just one can of beer per hour, one could potentially consume around about 12 cans in a waking day. Personally, I think that amount of beer will send a person around the twist (if only because of the increased desire to empty one's bladder so often), but there are a lot of heavy drinkers in this country.

According to the article I read, it's 24 375ml tinnies, so about 15 pints. Spread across a full day I wouldn't say that was too onerous a target.


Take a few painkillers & copious amounts of appropriate food & before you know it, 4 days of quality liver bashing is over.

How to put this...

Making a sweeping generalisation 'most' true blue V8 supercar fans have a..shall we say..st taste in alchoholic beverages.

They are generally not the sort to be buying wine in a glass bottle with a cork in it and making a selection based on the cheese board they are taking.

It is more likely to be the dreaded 'Fruity Lexia' box wine which is only available in a 4 litre box. Normally about AU$10-15 a box.



There are some upsides to buying your wine in a box though, once the goon bag is empty it makes a handy place to rest your spinning head...

did you actually see any of the race?

I dread to think how much beer and wine we've drunk whilst there, but have tended to try to tail it off during the actual race - if only to be able to focus on the cars whizzing past!
