i'm contemplating going to the RAC rally

my plan is to take the friday off, and travel up to myherin on the thursday night, camp over night in the campervan then watch the stage (twice).

any tips on places to watch? i am likely to park in the official car park, so just need to know how far, and in what direction i should walk to find the best viewing spot?

its been 8 years since i last went to any rally, and 13 years since i last went to a forest stage of the rac.

any other tips?

i don't mind paying, and am aware that its a shadow of its former self/only 60 cars etc. but i just fancy it..

I haven't seen the schedule for this year, but IIRC they're using Sweet Lamb - if that's correct then I'd head there, stand halfway down the hill leading to the bowl and you've got a good 45 seconds viewing of each car including watersplashes.

You're right when you say it's a shadow of its former self unfortunately. However if it's not an epic road trip for you to get there I'd agree with the sweet lamb idea. Personaly I think you'd have a better experience / view if you were watching it on telly at home whilst standing under a cold shower and pouring a bucket of gravel down your trousers. The super special is turning into quite an event by itself recently as well. It's a bit contrived and fake but you do get a good view.
