Testing ban - I'm confused!

I thought the ban on in-season testing was simply that, no testing outside race weekends. Hence the problems we've seen earlier in the season with teams unable easily to calibrate wind tunnel, cfd and real life.

So how come the local TV news last night shows Williams testing a new nose for Brazil with Nico Hulkenberg doing high speed runs up and down the runway at Kemble?

seem to recal high speed straight line runs allowed, no corners though.

They're allowed to do 8 sessions of straight line testing, which I imagine that was.

Severl streight line testing days are allowed. E.g. you can't do suspention setup work for the next race as theres no high speed cornering. But it'll give you some idea about how well your high/medium/low downforce components are working.
