Tuscan bits required

Hi Guys,
Due to a change in circumstances(its a long story) I'm building another Tuscan, I have the chassis, engine, box and roll cage and possible tub. But all other bits are needed, so dust out your garages and tell me what you have for sale
Cheers

JR has all the suspension wishbones and rear uprights available new.
front uprights are fairly rare, john did have some steering column. jr also has the suspension bolts and the spacers for the rose joints and dampers..
rear hubs are Granada cossy. I got the drive flanges from bell hill. not sure about drive shafts..
you need a shed load of rose joints.
front upper and lower ball joints are jag
Rads are from docking engineering/part of earls in silverstone
rad frames again JR
I got my disks and bells and rear calipers from jr, and front calipers from another racer, although you could try ap direct or get hispec or willwood to knock something up.
what engine you going for ajp or rover

Serck also do the rads and oil coolers
Rear hub flanges and bearing housing are Granada, but you need to machine the hub flange down to fit in the brake bells.
Steering racks are becoming difficult to find, as are the steering arm to upright brackets.
I have a brand new AJP race engine loom if that's any help, otherwise all my AJP bits went with the Tuscan to Owen - and then he broke it ....

Hmmm Sag body
Don't underestimate the work required to build one with a Sag body.... you end up having to make all sorts of bespoke stuff: central console, ecu harness, relay / pop fuse box, exhaust brackets, windscreen, side windows, rear window mounting brackets, door hinges, door catches, air boxes and air inlet feed, rad frame and cowling, splitter, air dam, lighting loom, fuel system, wiper mechanism, bonnet mounts, air jack mounts (a normal jack won't go under it) and so on....It sounds like a relatively simple job of rebodying a Tuscan, but in reality all the little stuff mounts up and takes an age!
Not really - you just need to go into it with your eyes open. With a Tuscan all the bits are designed to fit together (and are generally available) which makes the job somewhat easier. Except of course being TVR they never do fit together without considerable fettling. With the Sag you have to make quite a lot from scratch. Its part of the fun, but adds massively to the time involved
I did talk to Titan about custom steering racks, they were happy to make what ever we wanted.. I currently have a rack that i could loan to them as a pattern if there are problems getting racks..
the tuscan unit is cast and bespoke to the tuscan i think so might be difficult to get the actual ones made

Just working through stuff for the Sag and though you guys putting cars together from scratch might like a little pic of what goes into making up the rear corner..

missing from that pic are the mounting bolts for the disk to bell, and the two caliper bolts. The Hub also needs machining down to allow the bell to fit... These are the later smaller 2 pot rear calipers with the smaller rear disks.
In the pic you can see
Rear Upright ( JR)
Bearing Carrier (ford)
2 * oil seals
2 * wheel bearings
1 * Hub washer
1 * Hub Nut ( Handed)
4 * bearing carrier bolts (Ford)
1 * Rear Hub ( with original studs that need replacing and hub needs machining)
1 * Drive Flange ( handed - splines to hub and hub nut holds everything together)
5 * long wheel studs (Ford but looking for an alternative)
3 * rose joints
3 * Half Nuts
3 * Rose joint mounting nuts and bolts plus spacers (JR)
1 * Disk (JR)
1 * Disk Bell(JR)
1 * Pads(JR)
1 * Rear Ap Caliper (JR 2nd Hand)
Im documenting most things as we go along, and adding things like the dimensions of the bolts, part numbers where i have them, and suppliers etc. But thought this pic was timely..
a quick tot up in my head puts that little lot including the machining, and the caliper and disk mounting bolts at around 1 standard motorsport unit of money (a grand)
Then you need to add upper and lower wishbones, 4 more rose joints, 4 more supension bolts plus 8 spacers, and not forgetting a damper at 250-1000 ( and another 2 pairs of nuts and bolts and spacers)
So easily upto 2 standard motorsport units if your building everything from new... more if you go to the top end of the damper scale !!
If your building from a bare chassis those cheap 15k tuscans start looking like the bargain of the century...
Im only building from scratch as I can do it over time as and when I have some cash i.e. I started collecting the parts about 4 years ago and have 95% of them now. I wanted to start with everything new and built my way... It really doesnt make economic sense though !!!

Another standard motorsport monetary unit is 'the biscuit tin' - measured by the amount of cash that can be stuffed into a standard 'Family Circle' biscuit box. A good Tuscan will set you back approximately 4 biscuit tins....
Whenever I comment to my wife that something (non-motorsport related) is expensive, she immediately scythes me down with the old favourite...'and how much is a set of tyres again?'. I still don't have an effective response to that one....
