WRC Wales 2009 - Saturday 24th

I'm off to WRC GB on Saturday 24th and I was wondering if anybody had any tips about where to go or any online guides that are worth looking at?

Saturday means Rhondda, Halfway and Crychan.

My choice out of those options is halfway.

Aim for the hairpin to the right hand side of the map - it's downhill, over 90 and usually pretty spectacular.
Arrive early and stay there for both runs.
There aren't many cars competing this year, and travelling between stages in Wales is usually not a good idea, better to stay ans watch both runs on the one stage.

Does anybody know how long the cars run for on each stage? For instance, I've looked at the programme for the day, but it only gives a start time for each stage, is it only WRC cars running from that time and roughly how long will they run for?

Category A cars start at 2 minute intervals, there are approx 10 of those I believe.
Cat B cars run at 1 minute intervals and I think there are another 50 or so of those, making a complete stage take about 70 minutes.

However, remember that you'll have a number of course cars, spectator safety cars, FIA cars and anyone else that can blag a pass to drive the stage coming through first.

You'll then get 000 car 15 mins before the stage goes live, 00 car 10 minutes and 0 car 5 minutes before the first competing car.

If you're not a regular Rally type and you wander into the stage to find a decent spot, make sure you stand well back when the Spec Safety & Course Cars are coming through. They tend to get a bit twitchy if they see someone standing where a leaf might fall on them

And if you're a novice, remember, stand on the inside of bends not the outside, above the stage surface level, rally cars tend to go wide and down, not slide into the inside of corners and upwards (though it does happen!)
