Grosjean - is he any good?

In the light of KK's debut in Brazil, has Grosjean done enough to impress?
Personally, I think not - he seems a bit of a crasher to me, a loose cannon.
What are your views? Should he have a drive next year? Seems a bit bizarre when you realise Ant is wasting his time commentating. (Well actually not wasting his time too badly, he is v. good on 5Live...)

In all honesty he's suffering like most of the newbies in terms of a lack of testing, however, he's done nothing to make me think he's anything particularly special. Good enough to be in an F1 car, but who knows how good he really is.
KK I think is likely to be a bit Satoesque - quick but temperamental with a tendency to bin it.
In fact, none of the 'year of 2009' intake have really done much to mark them down as being ones to watch for the future as best I can tell ?

I,and many others, think KK actually did pretty well.We dont know if he has a tendency to bin it yet - he certainly didnt seem that way inclined yesterday. Drove a good race ,and wasn't phased by dicing with the championship leader at all. As for Grosjean - if he cut his hair, he might be able to see where he is going a bit better!
Not shown anything that sets him apart so far.
I think Koybayashi has shown how bad the lack of testing is for new drivers. He isn't new to an F1 car, whilst he hasn't done much in a car in the last few months, he did test properly pre-season. Something that Grosjean and Alguersuari haven't had the benefit of.

Grosjean has I'm sure at some point tested officially for Renault but not on the results I could find for 2009 so it was probably late 2008 and not with the latest spec car. Kobayashi on the other hand has tested 2009 spec aero officially just once pre-season, at Jerez in March,

Grosjean seems to have all the makings of a journeyman F1 driver. KK is the most exciting driver to come out of Japan, well, ever.
I have to say that Buemi has shown very well this season. Remember he scored points on his debut, outqualified and raced his more experienced teammate (to the point that Bourdais got fired) and has shown a clean pair of heals to his new (even less experienced) teammate. Another points finish in Brazil after a fine qualifying performance and I think he's got all the makings of being a Trulli/Fisi of the future - occasional race winner, but not championship material. He certainly deserves a place in F1.

Maybe being a tad unfair on him - I had a quick nose around Youtube and there are plenty of examples of him being very racy, but not many crashes as far as I could see. So fair play to him.I guess one grand prix does not a career make, but I do hope he gets a drive next year.
Grosjean doesn't light my fire like Kobayashi did yesterday; he made a spectacular drive even if the move on Nakajima was a bit iffy. Romain has had a few GP's now and yesterday he went really backwards whereas KK fought very well indeed. Button could have done with being that aggressive at some points in the season!

It doesn't excuse Piquet's performance at all. He wasn't a rookie this year. He had all season last year, and a good part of this year, to show what he's worth.Piquet's average race position = 11.75
Grosjean's average race position = 14.75
Those don't include the two DNF's for each driver.
The differences don't seem very big, IMHO. When (or if) Grosjean races against Kubica next season, we'll see.
And if Grosjean get's fair treatment from the team now Flav has gone, where NP was treated like s
t and not given a chance to do any good while all attention was given to Alfonso.
Since Flav has gone, they have become more of a two car team, hence Grosjean's apparent better performance.
I wonder how good NP would have been if he'd been given a fair crack at the whip, without all of the psychological crap that he had from his so-called manager?
I guess we'll never see as he's a social leper in F1 now.

Not overly impressive and I doubt he'd have much of a chance outside a French team.
There does seem to be a dearth of top notch talent at the moment but I suspect the testing ban is making itself felt on that front.
As others have said KK seems to be an exciting prospect. Not sure though if that's 'dangerous' exciting or not. While he held off BUtton it wasn't without playing it very close with weaving and particualrly in the breaking zones. I understand many would like to see no regulation in this area but I can see exactly why we have the regs in place. It's just part of why we've had no deaths in F1 in recent years.
