Most Spins of the Year:
2008 was rather easy given that Massa drove the whole of the British GP either sideways or backwards, but for 2009 there was no specific driver for whom spin would be considered his most defining characteristic. However, one person stood head and blood-spattered buttocks above everyone else in the spin department.
Spinmeister Award for 2009 goes to: Max Rufus Mosley.
Cornering:
Last year there was a dispute over the winner. Many felt the Hamiton’s display of cornering all through the season made him a worthy winner but there were a number of objections with regards his straightlining the Bus Stop chicane at Spa. But this year there is no dispute as there was no suggestion of anything straight from him at any time.
The Most Twists and Turns Award goes to Max Rufus Mosley.
Pit Stop:
A clear winner last year, with Massa being released much too early, may have led many to believe that Heikki might walk it this season. Unfortunately, it looks as if he’ll be walking a lot more in 2010 as well as not getting the award. One person captured the attention of the judges.
The Early Release Award goes to Max Rufus Mosley for pushing Todt so early on in the campaign for president.
Goodbye:
When it is time to go you have to go. Whilst there were many we’ve waved goodbye to this season, there were just three in it. BMW, who seemed to reduce the value of their racing team by sheer incompetence came a distant third. Flav, bless him, came a very close second for the prize. Again though, only one person stood a chance.
The Shut the Door on Your Way Out Award goes to Max Rufus Mosley
In the Lead
There is a certain irony here as the award goes to the person/team who/which threw away a dead cert win. If they win this then they would appear to be unworthy of it. Still, here goes. Brawn and Button, with their tremendous early season spurt were at great risk of being the judges favourite but they took note of the FIA’s bent voting system, the overwhelming advantage anyone favoured by the incumbent in heir to and also the fact that all the person pushing for the win needs to do is not do anything stupid. So you can accept that there is only one person in with any chance.
Yes, the final Dead Favourite Award goes to Max Rufus Mosley because, despite all his advantages, it looks probable that his campaign will lead to Ari being able to challenge the result in a real court.
