I can't stand the guy but, when he's on form, God he's quick. Would love to see a Nascar driver, an American at that, come over and put in a good show in F1. Maybe go a way toward opening the minds of the "fat Americans can just turn left" crowd.
I thought a while back that Jeff Gordon was going to get a test in F1? Could never see him moving, so maybe a publicity thing?

Ilike to see hime do it - especially if he could win the Title next year - Johnson just keeps doing it in the chase, (though Kyle ran him close last year). As long as no one suggests that Dick Earnhardt.
Pity Jimmie is past the age when teams would look at him - and why would he leave (like Kyle says he is young enough to give it a go for a few years an then go back). Yep the sponsors would lap it up.

I think Gordon is pretty humble about his ability amongst elite drivers, he was really chuffed just to be in the Race of Champions this year.

Frank Williams said at the time something like he would love to have Gordon driving for him, but Williams, and perhaps every other F1 team, couldn't afford him.

I loathed the way his father conducted himself on the track, and it would be very difficult for me to support the son unless he were racing against Kyle Busch or Nelson Piquet Jr.
Since he started, however, the son has been under a great weight of expectation. Like Axel Merckx, he lacked his father's exceptional talent and was always going to disappoint.
As a rule, Jr has held up his hand when he's made a mistake, and publicly apologised when his error spoiled a competitor's race. He made the decision to break away from his wicked step-mother's firm, but it was created by and named after his dad, so that couldn't have been an easy thing to do. I'd say that, to my surprise, he's been a class act.
Why would Kyle Busch even consider a move to F1. He'd have to take a huge pay cut. Not upfront salary but there wouldn't be the merchandising opportunities that there are in Nascar. He wouldn't be the quickest, so would be scrapping it out with the Force Indias and Torro Rossos and its probably a lot harder in F1 as your away from home even thought the scedule is a lot less.
Hmmm...he (Earnhardt) cause a few crashes earlier on this season that he didn't stick his hand up for and I thought was very aloof about the whole thing.
I'm a big Monty fan as of this season and would love to see Mark Martin lift the cup but I fear JJ is going to wrap it up comfortably.

Why would KB do it? Because he is a racer. A true, proper racer, loves the challenge, a good scrap and he can drive, he is properly quick.
I think he would be very interesting in an F1 car, the sponsors would certainly be interested in him being in there and Bernie would just about fall over in happiness.
A shame Gordon never got to show what he could do. A very very good driver, Im fairly sure he would have fared well in the F1 and challenged, perhaps even being the first Yank since Mario to lift the crown.

History shows us that the USA racing scene is not suitable preparation for F1 and being quick in IRL, CC, NASCAR, whatever is no indicator that a driver will be any use at all in F1.

Not sure of the current figures, but Earnhardt Snr was making more than Michael Schumacher. Busch would be looking at 'drop a zero' to make the move.Not Ideal said:
