Which motorsport?

I'm 'aware' of a child being brought up all wrong. They're being taken to soccerball games where grown men go down like felled trees when another player breathes on them heavily, cheat & lie and set the worst example of how to behave. I'd like to put them straight.

I'm a regular at my local circuit, Castle Combe, and while I love it, it doesn't have the appeal of perhaps the more glamorous tracks. Bearing in mind we live in the West, for next year where would you knowledgeable types suggest we go to follow a seasons racing or glossy series?
Maximum three hours each way travelling.

Maybe something at club level? 750mc, Production BMW, Toyo tyres Racing saloons?

That way not only does He/She get to see racing cars on the track, there's a chance to wander round the pits under supervision! and talk to some of the drivers and see the cars up close?

Knockhill...... Follow the Scottish Motor Racing Club series.....

Fiesta XR2s and STs, Scottish Mini Coopers (an ex SMRC Mini driver has won the Dunlop Mini thing again this year), Scottish Legends, Scottish Formula Ford, the SMRC Classic Sports and Saloons and the Saloon and Sportscar Championship.

These all race on the same day...... ! It's pretty intensive but great fun regardless of the weather.

Not sure Knockhill is particularly convenient to Castle Combe!

Maybe best to get the kid actually driving a kart. Don't have kids myself but I imagine a day watching motor racing might test their patience a bit more than you or I. Whereas with driving they'll get the actual experience of it rather than watching it.

Woah woah woah. Nothing wrong with Castle Combe, great circuit to watch at with a great atmosphere. Always a big crowd for any resonable event (bigger than the same event at any other circuit). When I was working in BGT the drivers and teams always looked forward to Combe for both the racing and atmosphere.

Back to the question I would recomend British GT, if you go to all the southern/Midlands events you will see 80% of the season. Thruxton and Combe are great BGT events.
Also the cars are pretty good to inspire a "young'un" Porsche's Vipers, Ferrari's etc etc.

I have to agree with Thruxton. Sit in the grandstand by the chicane and you will see plenty of action in every race lap after lap. Not too much chance to get bored.
