Ecclestone wants 20-race F1 calendars
Bernie Ecclestone has braced the Formula One world for an even longer race calendar in the future.
There were 17 grand prix this year, and with the addition of Korea next year and the expected return of Canada, the schedule is set to expand to 19.
But with the likes of India pushing for a 2011 race and France still working on a new venue, F1 chief executive Ecclestone is eyeing an ideal schedule of 20 races.
"Yes, I always said that it is possible and obviously now there are more and more people falling for that idea," he said in an interview with his sport's official website.
The Briton said longer calendars are possible now that the amount of testing has been dramatically reduced.
"Nobody needs testing," he said. "It was always, in my opinion, that testing costs money while racing brings money .
As much as i'd like to see 20 races,i think it would be too much for the teams to do in terms of travelling,i suppose it would work if they were spread out a little better.

Like others though Marcia, i am counting down the days until March - Cant wait. I think the Media and the fans would love to see more and no doubt more money would also be coming in. now with no testing, what's to stop bernie from expanding the calendar (bringing forward the first race, and making the last race later).
the teams don't mind 19 or 20 races as long as there aren't a load of back to back's and they get a chance to spend a bit of time at home. it also reduces the financial burden on the circuits as with more races, CVC don't need quite so money from each.

The CVC debt is not going away and the creditors have no motorsport interest. All they want is their premium back and have no concerns about the people involved in F1.
I did three years of 16 / 17 races a year and as a team member you have no home life, no social life and it is pretty soul destroying. A fun job for a year or two but no career and the jet lag is rentless.

If even one of the new breed of circuit had been built on an kind of gradient, then maybe so. I'm personally sick of all of these two dimensional tarmac wastelands that they call race tracks. The best tracks in the world for the drivers and for the spectators challenge the car and driver over undulations, and through bends with changing cambers and banks.Laguna Seca

I've no objection as a fan to a 20 round series, but variety is what is needed for the rounds.
Also, would it be too much to ask to start naming corners again?
