Anyone got a link to that Screaming BMW Video? Think it was in some Dutch GT race. It was overtaking EVERYTHING!

Thanks,
Matt

Because he had an ex touring car (ex-STCC IIRC) that was faster than most out there. He had to start from the back because of a qualifying problem, otherwise he would have been on the front row or very near to it.

The car helps, it is like bringing a gun to a knife fight.

I think this is Rolf Van Os's BMW, the right one, shared with his brother Frans.

He now races a BMW Compact in the DSC.

thats a good video, proof that a well set up car and a good driver who knows the circuit can be more than a match for bigger, faster cars...

Marcos / 911s / M3s.. All bigger capacity etc. Was a supertouring 2 litre running around 300bhp. He was sideways at vMax a number of times and really was driving the socks off it.

Credit where it is due, he was pedalling that extremely well against faster machinery. Cor Euser's Mantis has 600bhp!

A lesson that should be learnt by anyone doing track days, or even club racing. Time and money spent on suspension, setup, and brakes is worth more in terms of seconds per lap than power. Before a penny is spent on anything but reliability improvements under the bonnet, setup and tuition should be prioritised.

Doesn't Dutch Supercars run to a power to weight ratio formula? Or am I dreaming that.?

The BMW we took to the ring was an ex-DSC car. We got told that it was 275hp because it was quite light, and it only needed that power for the formula. The dutch that sold it to the owners of the car may have been lying or smoking something though.
