For all you Jenson fans, he will appear on the show this Sunday.

Also the Red Bull car will be doing a lap of the circuit. Filmed last week.

Sounds like a good episode. I take it you were there?

(I bet there will still be threads on other parts of the forum criticising the show!)

I have been a fan for years but the last two episodes were a farce - the Balboni test was probably the worst supercar road test i have ever watched. Racing Airport trucks/catering lorrys is amusing to an extent. However, i will be tuning in to see Jenson and the RedBull car going around the track.

Its a fairly balsy thing to do if he's there to challenge Lewis's lap time!

I dare say Jensons agents are working their socks off getting his face seen all over the place atm eg. On Jonathon Ross just prior to Sports Personality of the year etc.

So, expect to see books, dvd's, triathlon trainers, own brand beard trimmers.... and the like wink

But before he did it in the dry and was matched by Lewis in the pouring rain. I want to see Lewis back with the Liana in the dry, and maybe if Schumi drives for Merc they won't do what Ferrari did and only let him drive their cars so he can have a seriously good crack at it.

Also, if they want to make it really food, let an F1 team bring both their cars to the track and let one of their men race Stig.

I expect in the ice today he won't have been very quick.

And I imagine the Red Bull won't have fared too well either.

i honestly could not agree more! i dont recall the last time i nearly switched off an episode of top gear, and i would class myself as being a big big fan. The Balboni "test" was dire and such a massive shame to what is possibly one of the best lambos to have been created for ages. Hammond was terrible and i really do get the sense that he is just too scared to drive powerful cars these days.

One ray of sunshine was an ad i saw the other day where it looks like they have the noble M600 lined up, i hope for this series. I am going to take a punt and say it might well be the new fastest supercar on their board...

im out on sunday so i'll miss it this week. thank god my folks have just invested in sky plus - i may have to pop round and abuse it!

The FXX that Schui has is the only all black one produced and was given to him by Ferrari, he is the only driver of the car, hense why the stig cannot drive it! The FXX is only allowed to be driven on a track providing prior approval has been granted by Ferrari. The reason Schui drove it on TG was because it was the only way they were ever going to get one on the show... He was there to get the car on the show, not to get him on the show.

To buy a FXX you had to be approached by Ferrari, not ask Ferrari if you can buy one. I don't suppose TG viewers would have wanted to watch many of the other FXX owners!

I don't think the TG track is really setup for F1 cars... can you imagine them cutting the corner on gambon and bouncing upside down?!

I agree tho, TG has been going off the rails since the start of last season... the occassional good episode thrown in but they seem to be trying too hard to be funny now...

It's all a bit juvenile Public Schoolboy now, presumably that's what sells Wordwide but I find it very wearing.

My solution is to watch it via Sky+ and fast forward through the dross.

I know nobody else was allowed anywhere near the FXX, but if I heard right from somewhere, Schumacher had a clause in his Ferrari contract saying he can only drive Fiat group cars, which is why he said he has a Croma, and that they didn't show him do a proper lap in the Liana. Hopefully, if he drives for Merc next year, there won't be any stty clauses like that and we'll see how he fares in the Liana.
With regards to F1 cars on the TG track, I'd agree, after seeing a rerun of the Renault do a lap, but as long as nobody gets hurt, it would be much better TV watching F1 drivers go hell for leather round there than seeing JC smashing up a rather nice looking Renault.

He was resticted to certain vehicles in the Race of Champions too which I thought was rather silly.

TG will always be funny. I reckon they've had their budgets cut over the last couple of series, hence the less dramatic tests. We don't seem to see things of the same magnitude as the Veyron v Plane or the Skyline GT-R v Bullet Train for example.

Jenson appears to be everywhere in the media at the moment, perhaps part of a campaign to win the hearts and minds of the British public.

Is this right? I expect it's standard practice/ contractual that people of such profile aren't generally "seen" in rival cars, but to this degree? Button, webbar, hamilton all drove the liana cos it's just a bit of fun, not to mention probably condusive to the fan-driver-bonding thing. For someone of schumachers profile to be held to such a pussy-bh-whipped contract... sad.

He only raced the buggies and the X-Bows at ROC if I remember correctly.
