Following on from the other day when the new came that you can see the Lotus test track in Street View, I've been looking at other tracks around the world. Laguna Seca is on there, some pretty good pics around turn 1, Porsche/Vette duelling in front, Audi R10 and another LMP1 car duelling behind. Haven't got round the first corner yet, I'm sure there'll be more good pics on there.

If you find other circuits on Streetview let us all know!

I did a simular search a while back when Google street view was first launched. I came across Albert Park in Australia which hosts the Australian Grand Prix. It's pretty fascinating taking a lap of the circuit as you could never imagine them hosting an F1 race there. Only the pits remain there for the rest of the year, the rest of the circuit is just like any other road/park that you would find in any city.

Here's a link for you to take a look at.

Would this be a bit more interesting if we screen grabbed and posted the satelite pictures for people to guess what they are? ...... or maybe a particularly famous corner of a circuit?

Looks like a Superbike weekend at Brand GP Circuit wink

Hmm the guess the corner/track game sounds like a great idea.

Albert Park looks so different when the F1 isn't there, I'm surprised how much though.

Sadly no street view on it just yet, I'm sure that's going to change soon though. Meanwhile, you can go round about half of the old Reims circuit in France (other half is either torn up or they haven't bothered)

One thing I noticed on Laguna Seca, the GT cars in front never seem to pull away, and the LMP cars behind stay the same distance back. So either the camera car driver is really going for it, or its all staged (more probably the latter).

As you wish, I'm starting with a tough one. Guess the circuit!

Bonus points if you can identify an important event which happened there

Looks like Adelaide and so I guess the major event would be the Hill - Schumacher collision of 1994?

Here's another I have come across.

It's a fairly easy one.

Valencia it is. It's towards the back of the starting grid.

Exciting - I thought exactly the same as I was browsing through the circuit - ha ha.

A slightly harder one this time.

I couldn't access the actual circuit, but this bridge is overlooking part of it.

Montreal?

Think I sat in the grandstand on that corner before lying down in the shade suffering due to a lack of decent beer.

Interesting to note that Hockenheim - although unavailable from street-view - has the old layout when viewed from above.
