Drivers Wanted for British 24hr Kart Race (28/29 Aug 2010)
Discussion
Hello,
Would anyone be interested in taking part in a 24hr karting event in August this coming year? I'm looking for three drivers to make up a team of four.
The race is held at Teeside Autodrome in Middlesborough over the Sat/Sun of the August Bank Holiday weekend, with practice sessions on the Friday. Qualifying and the race itself are on Saturday, with the race starting at 12 noon.
The circuit can provide a kart, fuel and tyres plus everything else needed to do the race at a total cost of £900. I'm looking to enter a team of 4 drivers. So, the costs per person would be £225 each, all in.
The organisers require £500 up front once the application is submitted (ie £125 each). There are then 2 further payments of £200, one on 1st May, then the next on 1st July (ie 2 x £50 each).
So, each team member would make the following payments -
1. On submission of team application - £125
2. 1st May - £50
3. 1st July - £50
Here's a link to the website and the details on the race -

Places are limited and it's an indication of how popular the event is that they're already taking applications for 2010.
I did this event in 2009 and it was fantastic, if pretty tiring! The Teeside circuit is a great track and some good speeds are possible. The karts used are twin engined 4-stroke Prokarts that are pretty quick and dead easy to drive.
I did the race with four other guys, only one of who had much karting experience, and we still did well, so there's no need to be an expert karter to put in a respectable performance!
Cheers,
Tom

Hi Tom,
If you are looking for a team then i can point you in the direction of the team/group that i race with called Race Drivers Inc.

RDI was started in September of last year and now has over 500 members so you will easily find a team. Since RDI was formed I have raced with them at the Daytona 24hr D-max event in Wembley Stadium on the ROC curcuit, Le Mans 24hr Kart race, The British 24hr at Teesside and the Daytona 24hr at MK in the Max karts. I also managed to race at the Johnny Herbert Karting event in London because of RDI so it is worth becoming a member (which is free).
If you have any questions please ask and i'll be happy to help.
