London Marathon - BRDC Marathon Runners Team
Discussion
Ladies & Gentlemen,
I trust you all had a good Christmas and are comfortably settled into 2010. I’m fresh back from the Dubai 24 Hours and training for the London Marathon has resumed already!
As you may know the I’m part of the British Racing Drivers' Club (BRDC) Marathon team, that on the 25th April 2010 will run the London Marathon in support of the awesome children’s cancer charity, CLIC Sargent. Myself, Andy Priaulx, Olly Gavin, Darren Turner, Jonny Kane, Stuart Pringle, Johnny Mowlem, Guy Smith, Sean Edwards (maybe!), Peter Dumbreck, Richard Westbrook, Charlie Hollings, Stuart Hall and, our latest recruit, Marino Franchitti have stepped up to the 26.2 mile challenge. Nerves are already starting to set in however our training is going well and on the 3rd of January I ran a full off road marathon from Bath to Castle Combe and back with surprising little ill-effects! The boys are already talking about potential times, I’ll be happy to get round in under 4 hours.
Now to the important part, for those of you that haven’t yet, please PLEASE go to http://www.justgiving.com/BRDC-marathon-legends and give what you can – we’re going through a hard time training in this weather and your donations are a real source of encouragement. Fund raising is going really well and we have already raised over £11,000, however our target of £50,000 still remains a long way off.
Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer. To keep track of who raises what, please stipulate that you are sponsoring me together with a suitable(!?) message!
Thanks very much for taking the time to read this post and we'll let you know how we get on.
THANK YOU.
Cheers,
Rob
