FIA president Jean Todt is to continue his push to introduce licences for team managers in Formula 1 in the wake of the Renault race-fix scandal.
With former Renault boss Flavio Briatore and engineering director Pat Symonds having overturned bans from the sport in the French courts, a decision that remains subject to an FIA appeal, Todt has said action will be taken as a response to the matter.
Speaking to Gazzetta dello Sport about the subject, Todt said: "The Court of Grande Instance ruled we were wrong over the form, not the substance.
"There was an indisputable fact and there was proof - so much so that there was just a single vote against at the World Council. I will propose that the team managers, too, will have a licence."
Todt has also made it clear that he intends to stand for only one term as FIA president - after claiming that predecessor Max Mosley went on for too long.
"He's a friend," said Todt of Mosley. "But also as an enemy he did a super job for safety: nobody has died in F1 since [Ayrton] Senna, and [Felipe] Massa is back to racing.
"Everyone has his own style: 16 years at the helm are too many, it's crazy. No, I'm doing a single mandate; otherwise I wouldn't have time to do other things anymore."

I like the idea of licencing everything. F1 is a rouge sport of revellers, renegades and rich bored people. It needs licences for everything or you get too many powert-hungry d!cks who think they are more important than the sport, mucking the runnings up for the fans... Funny that...
Should be a good little back-door for eventually moving towards making the teams just exactly that, teams, and to finally rid F1 of the lunacy that the competitors have a direct say in how the sport should be run and what the regulations and rules are.
Madness. It's been F1's problem since... ever.
Max tried the direct approach, and typically had a revolt by the teams on his hands (again).

I like F1 being run by and being about the teams. Its racing for racers.
Fans are irrelevent, just be grateful you have something to watch.
The F1 boys would go racing whether you liked/disliked/cared/objected or frankly whether you were even born or not. Sport is for the participants, not the spectators.

I dont agree with your statement with such a prolific sport as F1. Its popular because it makes money from its fans. Without them there wouldnt be any sponsorship, any ticket sales and any revenue, making it unattractive to the socially elite and so detracting them. Dont bite the hand that feeds you IMOFans are irrelevent, just be grateful you have something to watch.

Nothing wrong with F1 being about the teams. Football, Rugby, Cricket et al are all about the teams, but F1 remains the only sport where the teams have a say in the rules and also remains the only sport with continual political upheavals about once every decade... where invariably the ones who suffer the most are the fans.Fans are irrelevent, just be grateful you have something to watch.

And a sport without fans is not a sport, it's a passtime. Fans are integral and without them you can forget about the power and the glory for the participants. Without fans supporting commercialism you can forget about it being big buisness attracting advertising, with it money, suppport, longevity and as a result of all, attracting the best talents from all around the world.
People hate Max for his long-term ideals upsetting their short-term entertainment, in that ignorant self-obsessed way the masses always behave.
Just because teams may eventually end-up just being participants, doesn't mean the drive, passion, development thru competition will cease, because that's how ALL other sports operate.
