Apparently it was the 1999 car being "driven" by a privateer, found it on a forum dated 2004 so an old pic... very lucky guy though....

Indeed he was very lucky.

I seem to recall the car had been lengthened to accommodate him, and when he had the accident that's where the chassis fractured.

Think it was an ex-Schumacher Ferrari and the crash was in the US - Monthery (sp?) historic event perhaps.

Basil Van Kroyens (sp)

An american domiciled dutchman.

The failure happened and Corsa Clienti came along with a big wooden flight container on a forklift, manhandled the remains into the box all hush-hush.

It was the same year of Ferrari as the one Schumacher broke his leg in, the one with the (allegedly) failing bulkheads. wink Ferrari took it back to Maranello to assess the cause of failure.
