Makes the point F1 is no place to learn your craft or turn up under-prepared.

lack of mileage? he has got a nerve considering redbull missed the first test session AND the RB6 has caused a few red flags in the sessions. Not to mention some of the clowns toro rosso have put in their cars of late and the subsequent carnage (suzuka, spa etc)
teams have to start somewhere
he is right about usf1 though

First, let's not forget that DC is still a Red Bull "member"; this feels like part of a concerted effort, if one reads Christian Horner's comments in The Times (there's another thread about that).Makes the point F1 is no place to learn your craft or turn up under-prepared.
I think DC is over-egging things a little, but the comment of his which really winds me up is this:
DC said:
It's no use them bleating about the fact that the goalposts moved after they joined under a £40 million budget cap. The Formula One Teams' Association (FOTA) never signed up to that cap.
WTF? FOTA do not make the rules. The FIA issued rules, the new teams entered, and then FOTA held the FIA to ransom at gunpoint to get the rules changed. I think it is entirely apposite to consider what the new teams signed up for.DC would also do well to recall the birth of the Red Bull team as Stewart; newbies in F1, never designed a car before, not fast, and so on. Without the admission of new entrants, there would - ultimately - have been no Red Bull.

If the new teams didn't know at the time what every switched-on F1 fan knew - that they were pawns of spankys in FIA-FOTA war - they they simply don't have the nous to play at F1.DC said:

I thin most of them did know exactly what they were getting into though, which is why there hasn't been too much public complaining about it, although USF1 did have a pop before they spluttered and died- which was just pathetic grasping for any old excuse considering they were go before the cap was ever mooted, and publically stating they'd be there to compete regardless of the outcome during the saga.

I wouldn't say Stewart had never designed a car before. Paul Stewart Racing had significant success in F3 and F3000. And Jackie Stewart's connections made it pretty much a Ford factory team from the off. Edited by JonRB on Wednesday 10th March 13:21

PSR never actually designed a car in the lower formulae. They ran Dallaras and Lolas in F3 and F3000 IIRC.AlpineWhite said:

- HRT is built on the foundation of an applicant that was so insubstantial that it needed a rescue before its car had ever turned a wheel. HRT and its predecessor Campos probably wouldn't even have been admitted entry if Prodrive and Lola had not refused to capitulate to the outrageous "only Cosworth teams need apply" extortion.
- Virgin/Manor - would they of the virtual car with the deviated septum have been admitted if their technical director had not been Max Mosley's business partner?
- Lotus? Not an iota of sympathy is due them. They did not apply until after the BMW-created vacancy, and thus they enjoyed full knowledge of the FOTA-FIA setlement.
None of the 3 is entitled to moan, "We wuz robbed!"
