New F1 on screen graphics = garbage
Discussion
Whats happened to the onscreen graphics especially during qualifying? Other years they'd have a column of 3 letter abbreviations for each driver which changed position as drivers improved their time, back in Bahrain there was none of this during qualifying, just that over complicated/stylized hard to read letter box type things. Guess they are on a mission to mess this sport up as much as possible for the viewers.

That was the most important element of qualifying for the viewer, especially at the end of each session. There's been a lot of feedback on the BBC site complaining about this. They've responded sympathetically, saying they understand but it's not their fault.
Hopefully the powers that be will get the message.

Wish they had also used Sch for the German chap instead of Msc.
They have used used Msc since Michael and Ralf were racing together. If I saw Sch towards the top of the list, I would naturally have assumed it was Michael !

Then 6 times you'd have been wrong. If I saw Sch towards the top of the list, I would naturally have assumed it was Michael !

Perhaps they need to take a leaf out of NASCAR transmissions.
Continuous scrolling positions across the top of the screen, alternating between lap times and gaps (either from leader or one car infront).
Even manage to show position changes “on the fly” i.e. as they happen – not at the end of a timed section.
Although it can be information overload at times.

Also why are they now displaying the total amount of time the car spends in the pitlane?! At first thought they pit counter was broken but then it did evetually start showing both stopped time and total time.....dont see the point really.
Probably because they are stopped for such a short time in the pit boxes now, that the slightly different speeds from the pit lane speed limiters will make all the difference. Copy and paste from what I wrote in the Bahrain GP thread.

Thoughts.

FOM have a lot of work to do. Qually, we need the side bar back. In the race we need to get the radios sorted and the graphics need to be clearer. Also, who's idea was it to use dark grey on light grey for the graphics at the bottom of the screen? You know the ones, the ones that are normally placed over the tarmac in the picture, you know, tarmac, the dark/light grey stuff depending on where the shadows are. Feckwits.

Agreed.. the new graphics are dire, seeing the new LG branding everywhere on all the new stuff makes it a nice own goal for them as well!Mazda Baiter said:
