Webber's huge Smokescreen..

Never seen the likes of that except when a piston or two has been destroyed. It appeared to affect badly some of the drivers behind Webber's hugely smoking car ~ so bad it looked like a total engine failure.
So, what did other observers make of this incident ? It repeated the smoke screen a little later on a lesser scalebut, still quite bad.
Thinks, could such a ploy be deliberately used say to fend off a faster car behind .... all's fair in love and wossname after all .... ask Herr S. ...

I suspect an overfilled oil reservoir. Which begs the question, how could it have been overfilled - I thought every level, component and tiniest detail was checked and rechecked- or are they just very sensitive to even a few ml of overfill?
Given the plume of smoke, and the incidents that occurred behind Webber, surely it was a borderline case for being flagged - (Black with an Orange Circle?) to enforce a pit check?
Have to say, I can't remember the last time I saw this flag deployed; even when cars have had significant bodywork missing?

Autosport report of Kubica on the subject said:
"All our hard work this weekend was undone by the incident on the first lap," said Kubica. "During the lap to the grid, we had high engine oil levels and we took some out on the grid, but it seemed like Webber had the same problem after turn one: his engine just sucked the oil in and there was a massive amount of smoke in front of me.
But as you say, so so rare for a car to be flagged to stop for checks, one of the more infamous of recent years being Kimi with his flapping exhaust at Silverstone (I think).
