Webber....(SPOILER)
Discussion
Never like to see the stewards involved but considering past penalties for running into the back of somebody there has to some punishment.
Excellent race, thoroughly enjoyed it. Great call by JB to change tyres, won him the race. Have to feel sorry for Vettel, Pole and leading twice and ruined both times by mechanical issues.
Also good to see Hamilton and Alonso fighting their way through but still major overtaking issues in the dry if you can't overtake somebody who you are 2 seonds faster than. It coud have been a good tyre call for Webber and Hamilton had they been able to overtake and had Webber not shown why he is always 'unlucky'.

Webber was a t
t in that race.
But to be fair his explanation for the (second) coming together with Hamilton seemed to track. He said he wasn't trying to pass but lost front grip [in the turblence] and knew he wasn't going to stop, so he tried to aim for wheel to wheel contact instead of front wing to wheel. He wasn't trying to pass in the inside on the way in, but was aiming to pass on the exit.
An innocent/poor mistake rather than an overly aggressive pass attempt up the inside. Racing incident. He shouldn't and won't get penalised I reckon.

It wasn't a clever move be it his judgement or lack of, or a genuine lack of grip due to turbulence. At that corner their is a tarmac run off area going straight on. He saw Alonso get out of shape after Hamilton tried to pass and was caught thinking what to do, and in doing so couldn't stop and attempted to turn instead of continuing causing him to spin Hamilton. If Hamilton wasn't spun I could see him getting past Alonso on the next lap however once he got behind Massa he wouldn't have had the time to pass him. A 4th place is better than 6th.
I have to say that it was an epic race from Hamilton! And like he said in the post race interview he deserved better

My issue with Webber in this race was that he seemed to want to prove a point to Lewis after the comments Lewis made about his age and retirement! His battling with Lewis was very 'I'll show him......'
Good that he apologised to Lewis BUT he said tried to justify his f
k up in his interview afterwards 'Lewis and I got a run on Fernando....'! No Mark, Lewis got a run on Fernando....You were nowhere near and went for a move from sooooooooo far back and was never on that there was only ever going to be 1 outcome!

Webber spent most of that race driving beyond both his and the cars limits. Just about every time he made a move on someone he ended up going off on the next corner. Shame really, but I guess it was his home race and he wanted to try and prove something - seems to have backfired on him though.

Hamilton was star of the race, brilliant driver.
And ruined it by acting like an spoiled child after the race.I have to say, i think webber was trying just that bit to hard to get a "home" result for all his fans, after all, considering he is in, arguably, the best car, he hasnt shown anywhere near the same sort of ability as vettel. I think he just needs to calm down a bit, and let the race come to him, not try to force it all the time, but what do i know, i'm only sat behind a keyboard, he is out there on the track

I think he got rattled by the end though.
Can you really blame him!??! Shocking decision that was unjustifiable in my eyes since none of the front running racers (Exculding crash test dummie sorry I mean Webber from this as he wasn't racing today rather tyring to testing crash saftey) changed tyres including his team mate! It made no sense whatsoever....... heebeegeetee said:

And ruined it by acting like an spoiled child after the race.At the risk of turning this into a 'Has Lewis lost his focus?' thread, I've noticed quite a bit of commentary/speculation about Hamilton this weekend. Obviously there was his run-in with the Melbourne Police and his joke/comment about Mark Webber retiring but it's his alleged late arrival in Australia (from LA?), questioning his focus on F1 that I find perplexing. I've never been a fan of 'Team Hamilton'; I found his father's pitlane presence embarrassing at times but I can't help but feel that without Big Ron Dennis or Daddy around, Lewis needs to quickly find himself a mentor figure. Speaking of which, I've heard Mika Hakkinen's name mooted. Any truth in Mika as manager/mentor?
