Kubica's move on the pit lane exit

In Q2 at Sepang the cars were lining up at the exit of the pit lane waiting for the green light to enter the circuit. Kubica goes past everyone and lines up alongside the Force India waiting at the front. I suspect it is legal because the blue demarcation line ends just before the exit, thus allowing one car to double up at the front. Does anyone know what are the rules governing this?
reminded me of joining the M3 some mornings , we all wait in line waiting to get going , some tw*t spots a gap just big enough to get a motor through and he's off down the side of us all , probably legal now but wait till they all start trying it , chaos and road rage will prevail just like junc 4a on a wet monday morning.

Not having been penalized indicated that Kubica was indeed within the rules. But what are those rules? Can you do it at all circuits or is this just a quirk of Sepang's, where there is more space after the last pit box? I don't think this move can be pulled in Monacobaragla said:

he should be penalized for this. Just think what will happen when this becomes allowed and therefore common practice. 5 cars on the main lane, 5 cars on the side lane and suddenly everybody's surprised and oh so shocked when chaos and injuries ensue. in many cases the stewards are so wound up when it comes to safety and regulations that they killed racing in the past on occasions. Now this whole thing seems rather dangerous (more dangerous than RACING moves ppl got punished for in the past) and nothing happens. and this move has nothing to with racing at all, it's just lame. hopefully the other drivers will let him know what they think of this, as apparently the people who should handle these kinda things are sleeping.
also slowing the whole field down behind him under these conditions was also rather questionable. I remember drivers who did less stupid and dangerous things and they got punished for dangerous driving...

as far as I remember it, there wasn't really that much space left. there's a reason the normal start grid where people are allowed to race against each other in two lanes is a little bit wider than the pit exit. maybe it wasn't that dangerous in that actual situation, but to me this is more of a general issue. like I said, what do you think will happen when more drivers do this? I think it will lead to a lot of car wrecks.
and with all that rain coming down, it's already rather difficult to get a proper distance to the car driving in front of you. kubica first put up a good speed (at least until he passed the first car) and then slowed down and tried to force the followers slow down as they suddenly had to drive in his car's spray. so I think you may at least debate whether this move endangered the other drivers, as deliberately trying to take the view away from the other drivers while at the same time slowing them down unexpectedly seems dangerous to me. doing this is ok when the safety car comes in during a dry race. but overtaking the over cars in the pit exit just to slow them down in the rain... I always liked Kubica, but today he lost my respect I have to admit. that whole move was foul and pathetic.

Depending on your viewpoint it was either a bit "John Boy" outside the local chippie in Stratford High St impressing (some ) people on a Fri night, or a display of total lack of class.
