HRT - no development programme!

From what I can gether from this Autosport piece, HRT - according to Geoff Willis - have no development programme in place, nor do they have any capability to do it in-house nor even any sort of deal with Dallara for the latter to do it for them.

Given the drivers' oft-voiced desire to be "the best of the new teams", I wonder if Geoff has mentioned this lack of development to the drivers...?

That's not good news.

Lets bear in mind that they've probably been focussed on just getting the car to the first few races after the transition from Campos to HRT. But even so, you'd expect some kind of development plan to be underway....

I did think that with an experienced car manufacturer like Dallara, HRT had a real chance of being the best of the new teams.

Looks like the root cause is the lack of adequate and stable financial backing.

I agree. However Willis - whether in honesty, or by way of a negotiating tactic - doesn't seem to think very much of Dallara's work on this particular car.

Frankly the way the world is right now, I was amazed to see new teams stepping into F1.

Surely there's much more speed in the car just naturally once they've reached a good state of reliability.
