what is a cosworth v6 engined cortina eligible for?

Forgive my ignorance but when you say cosworth v6 do you mean the essex v6 with the cosworth 24 valve head as seen in the racing capris ?

If the cortina ran with an essex v6 in period then you could use that in swinging sixties and it is possible to get some serious power out of the essex

Ooh, is there a seventies/eighties (I'll be looking at a mk4/5 late 70's early 80's) version of that?
I was talking about the 210bhp engine in the granada/scorpio cosworth, which after a little research turns out to be based on the Cologne v6, which is the very engine some cortinas of the time came with.

welcome to the Cosworth FBC...

Cologne cast iron block with alloy Cosworth DOHC heads, and in FBE form, wild cams and slide-plate throttle (later to have over-stroke cranks and forged pistons).

Hope you have a solid engine crane, they are REALLY heavy!

What you want is a 3.4 litre GAA as fitted to the Cologne RS3100 Capris. One also found its way into an F1 March for Roy Lane to tackle the British Hillclimb Championship in the mid 70s I believe

Make it so No.1

Unless you are going to do some serious work to the suspension, forget circuit racing.

If you're thinking of using it down the strip (drag racing), forget the V6, and go Big Block Chevy (you can get Ford rocker covers for the BBC just like the top fuel drag racers use!!)
